Does anyone think Morey will add Cassell or J. Williams to the team?

...I thought the whole "trading our starting PG away" move was a pretty clear indicator that Morey isn't building this team to compete this year and we are looking towards getting better in the next couple of years. If we wanted a vet PG on this team we likely would have kept Rafer.

...at this point with Brooks and Lowry, there is no sense in bringing in someone who will take time away from those developing young players.

Did Cassell mention that he wanted to play?

At least he's on a team contributing instead of Cassell and Jason Williams...

You must be dreaming, it's okay though. Neither have anything to contribute to this team and I doubt Les wants to pay another body to sit next to Deke, Chuck, and Cook.

    Go Rockets!!!

i wouldn't mind sam coming back to finish his career here, he can help out with the young guys and i think he's still got game. he's got that mid range jump shot, and probably able to run the offense well. even at his age. a la deke.

I would rather sign Robert "Big Shot" Horry just in case we need a buzzer beater against any team in the playoffs.

I'll take Cassell for Head. Two birds, one stone. We let Head go somewhere else where he might blossom (he won't here) and let Cassell retire on our bench where he belongs. I don't even care if he sees the court, and I hope we wouldn't need him to. It would just be nice to see him on our bench.

I hope it goes without saying that none of these guys is going to crack a playoff rotation without a catastrophic injury. Ideally we're looking at a 8-10 player rotation. You'd hope to stay healthy enough to get away with this:

    Yao
    Scola
    Battier
    Artest
    Brooks
    Landry
    Barry
    Lowry

The next two guys you'd want to add would be Wafer and Hayes. For insurance, toss in Mutombo. That's 11. That's plenty.

I agree with the sentiment to lose Head and give Sam I Am a final hurrah. If we put together a run this year... Sam could contribute on a limited basis...if not, he could probably help AB and Lowry with some pointers...for the future.

    Batman,

That rotation, IMHO, is better than what we went to the playoffs with last year. I'm not saying it's a team bound for a championship, but it has a better chance of getting out of the first round.

I liked Rafer and T-mac, but I think we are better with Artest and Wafer taking more shots, and Brooks running Adelman's offense.

Edit: I guess this puts we squarely in the DD camp. We have a team right now that's better suited for the Princeton team basketball approach. Let's enjoy it, and move on.

If Sam is healthy and joins Denver, they could have a Billups/Cassell PG situation, both dudes who know how to win in the Clutch.

Best of luck to Sam wherever he goes.

    Insurance policy?
by Benjamin Hochman on February 23, 2009

MILWAUKEE — NBA teams have a March 1 deadline for adding a player who would be eligible for the playoff roster, and Nuggets coach George Karl said Sunday: “We could use another point guard. … I think adding a player, we are very aware of the players who want to change scenery.”
As for Sam Cassell, who played for Karl in their Milwaukee days: “I know Sam says 47 teams want him. There are other guards out there that will probably buy out in the next couple days. I don’t know if we’ll out-bid a Cleveland or a Boston, but after them, I think we’re going to be at the top of the list.”
Nuggets reserve point guard Anthony Carter has played very well this season, notably on the defensive end, but he is dealing with lingering elbow injuries.

LOL. Tinman's the resident oldie-moldy dude who perpetually lives in the glory years. Just accept his history lessons on Rocket legends and move on...

Regarding the the players, I'd rather not have Cassell on board. Didn't we rag on Tmac for not playing defense and chucking shots? As for white chocolate, I'm not even going to dignify that with a comment

We need a C more than pg, since AB0 and Lowry are holding the fort nicely. Deke was supposed to be our backup C this year, but for some reason Adelman hates his guts and won't give him PT. I'd rather get an athletic big body like Gortat over in case Yao Ming goes down than sign another vet guard
