Missed opportunities??? that can lead to massive effects

    The rumors were flying all over the place...everywhere...this bbs was flooded by rumormongering for a while while these rumors were out there:

    summer of 08:

    Tracy McGrady

    for

    Chauncey Billups
    Tayshaun Prince

    this season:

    Carl Landry and Luther Head

    for

    Charlie Villianueva and Chris Mihm





    I dont need to say anything about T-Mac...except his value was really high after a big playoff series and the w22streak...and now hes got negative trade value

    about the 2nd one: carl has been efficient..however he cannot handle any big scoring loads or take on a big portion of the teams scoring after tmac goes out:

    Charlie V's stats for todays game:

    Field goals : 14/23
    free throws: 1/2
    3 pointers: 7/11
    5 rebounds
    4 assists
    36 points

    those stats have been pretty much consistent for him after the trade rumors were flying around. he would have been an awesome big 4 around yao with his shooting touch that has massive range and is able to shoulder the team's scoring when needed!


    so...I know hindsight is 20/20...but can morey's methods work for player improvements? I think player improvements only comes from physical practical scouting instead of analysing their past numbers.

    I know Tayshaun Prince was looking at Yao with man love.... just like Tmac was the year before he came over to the Rox...


    I would have done that trade in a heart beat... 2 all stars for 1

    heck I would have traded Yao if they threw in 1 or 2 more fillers just because Yao would have had maybe 3 more playing years on Tmac...

    The rumors here were terrible and probably made up by the OP. Since when did Chris Mihm play for the bucks? :rolleyes:

    As for trading Tmac for Prince and Billups, that's a pretty poor trade as well. Why get Prince/Billups now when you can get Bosh/Lebron/Wade/Joe Johnson/Dirk Nowitzki a year later?

    Prince and Billups won't guarantee as a championship, so I'd rather wait for 2010.

    These trades definitely look great now but there are many factors that are involved, including:

    • Chemistry issues
    • The abundance of forwards on our team
    • How they will gel
    • Locker room issues

    These players could be coming here and not play as well as expected, a la Ron Artest at the beginning of the season. But who knows, I'm gonna put my flame shield up and say that this microfracture surgery could be all that McGrady needs to give him the confidence and physical strength to play again, or it can backfire.

    Not acquiring Prince and Billups for McGrady was obviously a huge mistake.

    We just can't keep resorting back to what should have been done, or what shouldn't have.

    Like Coach RA said, the team needs to play on a daily basis with the players who are here.

    I'm glad that we didn't trade Landry away, too.
