A friend of mine invited me out to a local gun range today to try out shooting his .45 automatic. I haven't shot a gun since I was a kid and then it was only a .22 rifle so this was a new experience. The recoil wasn't as bad as I expected and it was also easier to fire than I expected. Didn't do too bad with the target at 21 ft but didn't have much success at 45 ft. I plan to try out his Glock 9mm next time for comparison. I'm still not planning on getting a gun myself though but interesting experience.
Nothing funner then shooting a bunch of guns. Anything above 9mm is quite expensive here in CA. It doesn't take long to go through 50 rounds of ammo.
Hmm.. out of handgun, rifle, shotgun, I had most fun last time when I tried my friend's shotgun with the clay "birdies". Pretty cool when you hit them. Boom boom!
which gun did you shoot? i went shooting with a friend a few weeks ago, frigging all the stores in the area were out of ammo except for 9mm.....
I've got video of the shooting: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Yg418SQBtOM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Yg418SQBtOM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I love my .45, a Para Ordnance M1911. I haven't had much trouble finding pistol ammo, but finding .223 rifle ammo has been hell.
I was at a range a couple of months ago, and they had an old car there to shoot up. It was entertaining.
Nah it was more like this. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nWXVc7iMBlE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nWXVc7iMBlE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
It was a .45 automatic my friend said the model was the standard US Army model until they switched to 9mm.
"The 1911 was the design given by God to us through John M. Browning that represents the epitome of what a killing tool needs to be. It was true in 1911 and is true now." - Colonel Robert J. Coates, USMC
It's the AK-47 of handguns. One could do a heck of a lot worse if they have this for home protection, that's for sure.
Hey, me too! I took a basic handgun class last week. Man, I was so nervous. I hadn't held a gun The recoil was powerful at first but I got used to it. My accuracy was off. The instructor said I just need more practice. I used a Glock. My fiance wants me to get a gun for my protection but I'm still not too keen on it. I would rather to get a taser instead. We'll see. I plan to go back to the range and practice some until I'm comfortable with a gun.
