What Playoff Position are we looking at, and how far we will be going into the playoffs? Will Yao Break through the first round and break the Mental Barrier and run deep into the playoffs?
the highest we can get is i think the second seed. denver will eventually play down to earth and ginobili is out for like 2 weeks, so we can make some ground catching up easily now that tmac isnt there to disrupt our chemistry.
I'm sure we can get the 4 spot. I'm also comfortable playing any team in the 5 like Portland, Utah, Phoenix, Dallas. We'll get out of the First Round.
We have 27 games left. Just to make the playoffs, we probably need to go 14-13 to finish at 48-34. To get HCA, we probably need to go 18-10 to finish at 52-30. Given our schedule, I'd say we finish around 50-32 ... enough to make the playoffs, but not enough for HCA. Note that those losses against weak teams *really* hurt us. Also note that TSlack played in almost every one of those games. We simply cannot afford more than one or two losses to weak teams for the rest of the season thanks to TSlack's digging us into a hole.
Definatly should shoot for the 4 spot. I believe we should beat anyone over a series except the Spurs and Lakers.... and we can always hope there!
If the team continue to improve I see the team in the 4th spot with the 2 spot in their site if all goes well.
I hate to even think about this, but what if we end up in the 5 seed, 1 game behind Portland for the 4 seed, and the difference was that Brandon Roy buzzer beater early in the year. That would really hurt.
If we wan to go deep in the playoffs. We should better position ourselves at the 3 or the 6 position. IF we can develop good chemistry (funny to talk about this so late in the season), we have only the lakers to worry about. Let's do it step by step , beat the weak teams (starting from today!), make the playoffs, pass the first round, and then fight the mighty spurs and lakers, and the celtics.
We should shoot to move on up and get HC advantage. Though, if the playoffs started today, or if we played the team current 4 seed, which is Portland, I'd feel good about that matchup.
And why is that, T-mac fanboy? T-Mac tried to screw the team over by announcing his season-ending surgery a day before trade deadline, now wouldn't he b**** and moan more when the Rox have some success in the playoffs without him?
This year we've played well against the best teams, which might mean that our upcoming schedule with few awful teams might be a good thing... Just trying to look on the bright side. I think the best perspective to have is that each game is its own entity. We won't notice any trends until the games are far in the mirror. But effectively, I don't see a reason why the Rockets should lose any of those games from here on out. Some teams will get really hot and beat us like usual, but we have all the talent and the pieces to control our destiny, without a gunshy captain at the helm. And yes as long as we keep having success I will keep bringing up the inability of our former best player to show up when it was time to show up.
