I actually don't think Rockets are going to make any gigantic free agent acquisitions unless there's a serious fall-out with Yao. Also, if the Rockets decide to keep the Artest and some of the youngsters.

I think the biggest moves for Houston will come through a trade or draft.

Most of the players on the market aren't really players that we need unless it is big low post center or a point guard who can pass really well.

    Big names...

Rasheed- I mean...he would help out a lotbut he's a head case of course. Having him do some things Yao is soft on some nights he would bring it if motivated. Can shoot 3s and play down low...if Motivated he would make us elite.

Iverson- Well...he's a scorer but he can be a ball-stopper naturally. He's always going to play hard unlike Tmac, but just like Tmac he has to have the offense run through him. Could hurt Chemistry.

Odom- He'd help out but he's going to want a big contract and then we've all seen how soft he can become in the finals and he can be inconsistent...but we don't need another potentially soft and inconsistent player...we should be done with that.

Those are the only 3 guys i'd think about signing.

If it was possible the best thing (imo) to do would to sign Artest to a 3 year deal and sign Sheed. This would make Landry or Scola expendable though maybe trade Tmac and one of them for another piece...either way this is one of many moves because of Tmac's expiring next season...team can make a major move and contend soon.

I completely agree, our projected team salary, without considering the possible Ron signing, is around $62-$65 mill. Some things that Les and the Rockets will take into consideration for the team's future:

    1. How far this team gets into the playoffs
    2. The overall play of Ron and the effect it has on the team
    3. The talk of the salary cap being lowered (due to the economy)
    4. How much they're willing to pay Ron (if he is in their plans) if #3 doesn't pan out and if the salary cap is increased (which is unlikely at this time)
    5. If adding/signing a new big piece will avoid the luxury tax
    6. The actual players who do opt out for this year and if they're worth it and fit our puzzle
    7. If they want to add a player next year or 2010

Just my thoughts, I could be wrong on some, oh well. I doubt we're players in 2010 eventhough I'd be looking forward to buying my Dwayne Wade jersey. I don't expect a impact player signing rather trades in the offseason to get him.

    Go Rockets!!!

Joe Smith/Chris Wilcox?(Someone besides Deke to help Yao), Ime Udoka(Cheaper Battier?) , Carlos Boozer (Rockets said they were interested), Andre Miller (I could still see one of our current point guards being shipped out for him), Hedo Turkglu (Adelman relationship), Trevor Ariza (Kids a beast)

He needs a very solid PG to cover for the his ordinary ball handling ability. Nash made him look better than he really is.
Playing off the ball is important along with defense, but one needs to have the ability to create shots. Artest doesn't do it well enough, and Wafer is a off the bench 2 guard.

I can't see the Rockets honestly being a big player... I think its more likely we bring in a good player or players with T-Macs contract. If not the only thing Houston has going for it to draw a big name in is getting to play with Yao..... if he resigns.

Deals need to be made with either Childress or Hedo (SnT, no doubt).

i know kobe would be impossible but if lets just say gasol is injured, they have a bad season, would he like to sign a max contract and play with a guy he likes like artest and the most dominant center yao. if we could sign him to max and get tmac back we would have be in luxury tax hell but we would also be selling more tix and def be champ contenders, but honestly something really bad has to happen to the lakers for that to occur. i like turk but i think we need to aim at younger agents in mid 20's not at the end of their 20's because they become injury prone. we need a future along with brooks and lowry

I'm very much inclined to agree.... but it depends on his price tag.

But he seems like the kind of player this management would target, a guy who can be a highly efficient contributor without having to have the ball in his hands all the time.

It seems like the kinds of profiles they like:

    1) very aggressive at taking it to the hole, finishing or drawing fouls : Landry, Lowry, Wafer, Brooks

    2) effective without the ball, high hustle: Battier, Scola, Landry again, (Marion)

    3) the low-post presence: Yao

Maybe we should stack up in the post.

Yao + Other Big Name Post Threat + Battier and Artest for Permiter Defense = GREATEST TEAM EVER. (At least defensively)

    Let's recreate the twin towers!

Well for 2010-2011 season, we got Tmac's big 22 mils off the book. that is going to be a goldmine for us. we can either trade his expiring contract away for some nice pieces, or we can use it ourselves.

If Lebron, Wade, Bosh, CP3...can't win championship, then I think i of them would end up in our hands.

Think about it, there is only one championship winner, someone bound to be upset with their teams and leave. not to mention Lakers are going to be contender come the next couple of yesrs too.

We got Yao, Ron, AB, and scola, those 4 are very promising pieces to draw any superstar that wish to win a ring. I think we have enough pieces to draw one of those top stars.

maybe not lebron, but wade, cp3, or bosh is a close one. who wants ti play for NY, Nets, when Yao can get them another level of exposure to Chinese market.

Seeing as how Morey tried hard to get Caron Butler this past trade deadline, he may try to get a similar player next time around.

I if I had to choose between Hedo and artest. I would choose Hedo. He gives good size and playmaking ablity and shooting at the 3 or 2.

and he knows the adleman system
