If a PG can hit a shot. . . take it to the hoop do *ANYTHING* beyond 'protect the ball' and 'make a pass' then he is MORE AN SG in a PG body to some folx Rocket River
So far, so good. I always take this with a grain of salt though. I'm happy for Brooks but I'll be cautiously optimistic until I see more consistency from him (referring to his sporadic bench droughts a few weeks ago)
I'll say this though - that quote by AB was something I hadn't given much thought to before. Sure, he's smaller and weighs less than a lot of bigger NBA pg's, but then again he is lightning quick too so the defense does have to compensate.
Funny how when someone expresses a differing opinion and is a lower status on the board, this is always stated. Maybe the guy could be a life long Rockets fan and be new on the board? Don't be such an ass, everyone can have their opinions.
I said it before in my nickname thread and I'll say it again: Brooks is fast but his coolness is much more of a weapon/asset than his speed. The guy is cool under fire. This game and the Boston game just shows how clutch he is when the game's on the line in the final minutes of the fourth. Adelman said that one of the reasons he got Brooks is that he stepped up in big games. This is what he was talking about--he kicks it up another notch under pressure.
This is because the Toyota Center sucks and all the rich folk that have the seats in the lower bowl are in the restaurant/bar/lounge instead of being in their seats. Thank you for that, Les. I know your a Florida guy and have no real sense of competative advantage and all you see is $$$$$ signs, but this was a HUGE mistake in building this place. Top 3 worst Home Courts in the League
No, because there's no basis for what you said, and that most of us that have been here long enough understand that constantly changing lineups disrupts consistency. So many people here also thought that adding Ron would guarantee a championship, which is not out of the realm of possibility, but seems much less likely at this point. There's no need in giving Brooks a short leash when he's performing this way, give the guy a break.
I think as Aaron practices more with Yao and the first team, he will eventually become much less turnover prone. It seems that he has a pretty good basketball IQ.
My prediction: If Brooks does not get injured, this team is going to take off and fly towards the post season. We will have home court advantage for at least the first round and we will get through to the 2nd round where it will be a toss up. This team as currently constructed is better than the team before the trade deadline, even with Tracy. Brooks, simply put, is an ignitor. Don't you remember the play where they stole the ball, and he is running down on the break, gets surrounded and turns and throws the ball to Battier RUNNING down to the 3 point arc, and Battier drilled it on the run? That is Adelman basketball my friends. And Brooks is Adelman's ignitor. Watch it happen! For the first time all season, I am finally excited to see what these guys do next. Bring it on!
Wait, so your saying Lowry would have been dealing out double digit assists after you've seen him play for 15 minutes? Every time Brooks has been allowed to play extended minutes he has gotten a lot of assists. Not saying Lowry can't do that, but your making a large assumption based off of a few minutes.
I think the keys words from the article were "Atleast for one game,..." Kidd is very much over the hill, most guards today can outplay him, I think. Hope AB can keep it consistent through to the playoffs.
AB has been hitting big shots since his Oregon days. I have no doubt that he will continue to make game winning shots.
Exactly, that also applies to the whole team. If this roster plays together with motion offense and tight defense for 10 more games, chemistry will significantly improve and we'll see less TOs, more assists, higher scores and no more heartbreaking losses to scrub teams.
wow, with only 2 months left in the season, we can finally see Adelman's offense? gosh, what took so freaking long? Brooks = Bibby (let us hope so) Battier > Christie (slightly so) Artest > Peja Scola < CWebb Yao > Vlade Divac i know i'm being generous to Brooks and Battier, but i still give the Rockets frontcourt a slight advantage. the backcourt remains to be seen. Lowry = Bobby Jackson Barry = Turkey glue Wafer > Gerald Wallace (rookie) Landry > Funderburke ? Deke/Hayes = Pollard i'm using the 2001-2002 roster for the Kings. looking at the bench, why were the Kings considered so deep? i know the following year they added Jim Jackson and Keon Clark and kept everyone else, but still, compared to the best teams today or in the past, they're hardly impressive. remember when Sacramento was a team that was capable of winning it all (minus some really bad calls in game 6, and even worse free throw shooting in game 7) even against Shaq-prime and Kobe. there's no way Gasol/Odom combined are better than Shaq-prime, although Kobe might be a little bit better now. what i'm getting at is that i think the current Rockets even without McGrady might be at least as good as those Kings, talent wise anyway (never mind that Adelman never played Gerald Wallace who's a near all-star caliber player now). if Adelman can get the Rockets to run his offense on all cyliinders while playing intense defense, you just never know...
I am not down with that Adelman blurb bashing halfcourt playcalling basketball. That kind of offense wins championships.
