Give the guy a break. He's played a very nice game. 8 assists under 30 minutes for the first time he played with that team. He did a better job than Kidd when Kidd first joined the Mavs. Adjustment for a pg always takes time.

Furthermore, he just got off the plane, passed the medical and then had a crash course on the Magic offense before stepping on the court and shot 1 for 9. Is it that bad?

The reaction of the people on this board is just heartlessness

Why do you type in ALL CAPS?

Negativity is towards Rafer's game, not to him directly.

He is a great person, and we didn't have any problem with him. No one is dissing his character/personality.

    1) "You're" not "your".
    2) Please don't type in all caps, it's considered rude.
    3) I was just pointing out it was in the wrong forum and gave the reason why so the mistake won't be repeated. The more you know. . .
    4) The thread I posted in got merged into this one anyway.
    5) I like making lists.

There are rules in place for the placement of threads for a reason, so don't go mouthing off when you don't know how this place works.

P.S. It only takes a 1/4" to move your pinkie over and turn off your damned caps lock key.

EDIT: I see Cannonball can handle himself, thank-you-very-much. :p

Rafer Alston played a good game... if you didn't watch it and just go by the boxscore then you wouldn't know.

His defense was really good, and he controlled the floor. He brought the ball up every possession and still ended up with 8 assists and 1 turnover (8:1 turnover ratio) with 3 steals. That's a great line for your point. Aaron Brooks had a much better game in term of scoring and also dished out 8 assists but had 4 turnover (2:1 turnover ratio) with 2 steals.

While Kyle Lowry had 6 pt, 2 assist and 4 turnover (1:2 turnover ratio).

    Rafer is not garbage.

Nothing but if you read above... you'll see that the assist/turnover ration is a HUGE difference. Rafer had 8:1 assist/turnover ratio while Aaron Brooks had 8:4 = (2:1 assist/turnover ratio) and Kyle Lowry (one who we got for Rafer) had an assist/turnover ratio of 1:2.

If he keeps shooting 1/9, he's not gonna last long.

his game was actually alright. some of his shots were actually the best looks they had at the time he took it, didn't force anything much but he still misses a lot of layups.

it was more of his presence that made things easier for hedo, but this was a typical rafer game. as long as hedo and lewis hit shots created by rafer (and to a lesser extent, those wide open looks guys like reddick got from rafer) his horrible shooting would be negligible.

not really missing him, especially after brooks tonight.

    Did you watch the game?

The shots he took was very much in the motion of the offense. He had to jack up some shots (time going down) and some of his were blocked (Okafor). He didn't do badly as the boxscore represent.

The Magic announcer was incredibly happy about Rafer's performance... they even said that the fans should really be happy that they got a TRUE pg now.

Same Rafer. He's good at running an offense, there's absolutely no doubt about that. The problem is even if Rafer takes "in the flow" shots, he still clanks them. He's just a below average shooter at best.

Even if Rafer is a terrible shooter, he's better than Anthony Johnson and Tyrone Lue. He'll be able to contribute a lot to the Magic.

Classic Rafer stat line. Rafer could shoot 1/20 and the Magic would still win the game easily. Rafer got the Magic's offense in sync in his 1st 10 minutes and broke the game opened. Anthony Johnson is too old and has lost most of his game.

I only watch rockets games in regular season. And I was not suprised to see 1/9 from him since he's done it many times this season. Assists, steals and love from the new team is good for him. I just hope he can improve his shooting or limit his field goal attempt. Then he can be a TRUE pg.

glad to see rafer doing well, but happier to see AB playing better than rafer.

    lowry + AB > rafer + AB
