Any time any team gets a new point guard they get a new offense. No two point guards in the NBA are the same. Lowry will be able to listen to Adelman more and hopefully actually play a motion offense.
I'd be tempted to, but I'm not sure how the mods would feel about that. I purposely made this only a 1-day poll, to at least leave that option open. Honestly, though, I don't think Lowry will play tonight.
I share my antipathy for Alston is well known so my opinion is slightly biased i suppose, but regardless I would have been happy had we traded Alston for a pair of shoes...
okay with the trade from the start. still feel "okay". not thrilled, not down either. a little dicey. could be another genius move by morey, could be a so-so or failed experiment. time will tell.
I think they did a good thing for the future and got good value for Rafer (cheap labor at the point guard, and decent depth with a 3 point shooting 4) but I thought we had a chance this season. This is a move a team not trying to win now makes unless their PG gets injured.
Outside of options to trade Tmac, there might not be many attractive ones. Apparently they made the effort to trade Artest and was not successful. I'm most interested in knowing that those offers from Blazers were. I'm also interested in knowing whether there could be trade for Luther if the direction wasn't for trading point guards. (once the Rafer trade was made, Luther seemed to be viable insurance policy.) Also, unlike most people here, I won't be hesitant to trade away Landry if there were very attractive deals available. Consider Rafer's contract is expiring next season, I won't be too against idea of staying put also. Unless their assessment of Lowry was THAT high, it won't be difficult be deal Rafer for a similar player (a marginal startable PG has some unique skills in some aspect of his game, at least, that's the current market consensus assessment) in the off season. Frankly, assuming Tmac is done, I feel the two young PGs' strength won't be maximize as long as we have Yao as main pillar.
mixed feelings but i guess overall, i am happy with the trade. still think that morey the magician could've better. i am glad and relieved rafer is finally gone and i'm feeling a little more optimistic about lowry. rafer was killing this team. the only thing he was consistent at was jacking up missed 3s.
No. We traded our starting veteran PG for another project. Now we're stuck with two PG projects on a team that was supposed to be in "win now" mode. Complete 180 from the Battier-Gay trade. Lowry is the better project though and will eventually be the starter if it's between him and Brooks. I would be pissed if I was one of those veterans on the Rockets. Especially Yao. He wasn't even consulted on the trade.
people always argue that Rafer shoot bad. He is not a SG!!!!! But he shoot well beyond the arc and so few turnover --- He is a GREAT PG. He is slim but he has some size and length, much much bettter than Brooks and this Kyle. We will be blowed by good strong pg team soon....
The Rockets do look to be pushing it more in transition. It's a bit of a new style for them, and they're commit a lot of turnovers. With Alston, they've routinely been near the bottom of the league in fast break points (which is sort of ironic, considering his And-1 fame). The success of this change will hinge on their ability to really take advantage of a new up tempo style.
