What's with this sudden influx of atrocious February '09 registrants? Anyone else noticing this? I think heypartner is behind this, honestly. Your contributions to this thread are about as meritorious as your English.
Sure, without being able to name ONE SINGLE name to answer my question, pretending I couldn't understand, is so safe to cover your logic fallacy. Be my guest. Sometimes I wish I am just a Yao-Only-Fan, so I don't need to care about these nonsenses. If Yao moves on, the Rockets can move on, and I can move on since some fans were obsessed to live in the past. Of course, as a Rockets fan, I still hope you can figure out a plan and a few names to develop that Detroit model, one day. Before that happens, maybe the Rockets as an organization should just close shop.
we are the FAB 09ers!!! cmon u royal majesty 99ers LOL IT'S ON!! happy 10yr anniversary to us!! us, i mean it.
Yao can only dream about being like the DREAM. It's not Yao's fault. He's just too tall and came from a background where being aggressive wasn't the norm in B-ball. I mean seriously dunking and shot blocking in China was irrelevant until what a decade ago. Let Yao be Yao but dammit I miss the Dream. Hopefully one day when the Yao era passes we can obtain a big man with %75 skill set as the Dream. That is my only wish.
Cabbage, I agree with your basic argument that Yao is not an elite player that can be counted on to lead the team deep in the playoffs. However, I think trading Yao is not an option at this point. We have to hope he can stay healthy and maintain his level of play because it is VERY difficult to rebuild from scratch which you are basically proposing to do. Do you notice that usually the top teams in the league stay at or near the top for years and years. The teams that don't (ie Celtics) are the exception not the rule. With Morey being one of the better GMs in the league, I think he can manage to obtain an elite player to obtain next to Yao combined with a solid supporting cast. It is much easier to obtain 1-2 elite players to pair with Yao than to rebuild completely.Who could have predicted McGrady would go from riches to rags in less than 4 years? If McGrady was still on par with what he was supposed to be when we traded for him and what he was in 04-05, we would be talking about championship dreams this season.
Hey now.....you have to admit it was DANGED funny, I changed my quote to your new version........it was more of a friendly poke.... I think you and I see things completely differently on so many things, but I respect you Cab, I think you add a ton to this board..... You are just wrong so often.... DD
actually i was being sentimental, i've been a lurker for a long time. honestly i'm not heypartner. but i can see how my last few posts r like his. seriously i'm not.
What an awesome video. Love the interview at the end. If there was ever a time for Clyde to use the "clubbing baby seals" reference, this was it.
I know, HP was such a weirdo, such a loser, right? Just kidding, I like HP...he is a bit eccentric but good people. DD

What is it with some of you that keep thinking Yao is some sort of superstar or that he still might become one. He has been in the league like 6 or 7 years now, and guys just don't all of a sudden become super stars that late in their careers. Yao is a good center and that is that. He isn't going to carry the Rockets to any championship because he has no leadership skills whatsoever and has never shown any in Houston. That isn't me trying to knock on him, but that is just reality. The team will have to find a ton of talent to go around him and at least one more star player, because anyone thinking that Yao is going to take them down to a championship sort of like DREAM did is simply DREAMING and might want to go back and watch that Hakeem highlight reel because that is all you're going to see of that. If Houston wins another championship with Yao on the team it won't be because Yao led them there. It will be because we had a hot really talented team around Yao and him just being another guy as part of the ride. He'll have a huge impact and all, but he won't ever become this BIG leader and superstar than any of you think he is. For some reason some of you guys in here are like stuck in 2004 or something and where Yao is really young and think he has all of this great potential. He is almost 30 now and he is as good as he'll ever be. Get used to it.
Clutch The video is sweet.. Too bad this thread only gets 3 stars cause of the fake fans on this board. I mean who hates seeing the best player in Rockets history put on the greatest series performance in Rocket's history or NBA history.
nash is one of them. and actually i see alot of similarities between yao and nash. personality wise they are both gentle, polite, classy, kinda low key, easy going, intelligent etc.. physically they are both not very athletic but not that bad, and both with sound fundamental skills. i have no trouble seeing yaoming with a couple of mvps and championship titles.
The point you're missing is that Yao's always been held back to some extent because he's never been correctly utilized. There's plenty of guys around the league like the play by play guy for the Grizzlies (Devlin?) who argue that he'd be scoring 30+ points a night if he got the ball more. The Rockets, going forward, are going to use Yao as the focus of the offense. There's no need to argue about how good Yao might be because the experiment is about to commence.
What's with all this talk about yao not being a superstar center. What criteria do you determine a "superstar". I would say its a mixture of popularity and actually stats. I feel like Yao meets both of them. There is no single player who can hold yao on the block (even with those crazy refs letting him get beat up). And stop comparing Yao to hakeem. The dream was not a "superstar" he was a "legend" who made even the best centers (ewing, robinson, shaq) look like a bunch of high school kids.
