Uh yeah. Cat put up better #'s than Wally and is more efficient than Jerry. Cat beats Wesley in every category/skill imaginable. Wesley is an undersized SG. No thanks. Finley is good though.

For the record, I would make that trade if Billups were included. He could play the 2 guard.

Cat is better than Stack, but not better than Finley. Finley is the shiznit.

Kevin Garnett will make $25.2m for 2002-2003. Taylor, Mobley, and Griffin will make $14.2m. (Rookie contracts have $0 trade value).

Unless the Enron accountants have found new jobs working in the NBA, this one is not even close to flying. They would have to agree to take Rice's $9m...fat chance.

Huh? You really think Finley, Szerbiak, Wesley, and Stackhouse are a whole level above Mobley? That is EXACTLY the level that Mobley is on, which is about the second rung. Jeez, I could even argue that Mobley is better than all of those players. Now if someone would have said Cat is on the same level as Bryant, Pierce, Allen, and McGrady I would be with you on this, but David Wesley? HAHAHA! Kidrock, don't make me laugh.

Stackhouse is almost as ineffecient of a shooter as Allen Iverson with 39% FG and 29% 3-point percentage. Mobley is just quite simply a better shooter than Stackhouse. Pretty much everything you don't like about Mobley (shot selection and decision making) Stackhouse does worse. Stack gets 3.5 turnovers per game to Mobley's 2.4. Mobley gets more steals per game. This season, the only thing Stackhouse did better than Mobley was get assists. So tell me Kidrock because I'm really interested, give an argument why Stackhouse is a whole level above Mobley? Because he went higher in the draft and has a bigger name?

Szcerbiak needs his teammates to spoon feed him shots seeing as he can't create them on his own, Mobley doesn't need that. And its not like Szceribak does anything well besides shoot. He probably has about 1/3 of Mobley's offensive game.

I have a hard time arguing about Finley because he does everything pretty well, but its not like he does anything EXTREMELY well. At least not enough to say that someone who is comparing him to Mobley is on drugs.

So really, explain why you see all of those four players as being a whole level above Cuttino.

Why would minn do that kind of trade when they could call up the bucks and say give me allen, thomas, and mason and you can have garnett. After that, they could trade Wally for maybe someone like Andre Miller. They could have a all star 2 in allen, who by the way is better than mobley, tim thomas who probably might be a all star ,and a rebounder like Mason. If they really want to trade garnett even with his salary, there are some possibilites that are way better than anything we can offer.

The trade proposed above is better than the Milwaukee deal (if we would do it which we wouldn't).

Allen is better than Cat, but not by some extreme amount. However, EG has much more potential than Thomas and I'd take the #5 pick and Taylor over Mason 6 days a week and twice on Sunday.

There's no way we would do that trade. We couldn't fill out our roster trading all those people. We couldn't only do the deal if we got to keep Mobley and they took on Rice's (he has to be included to add up to KG's huge salary) contract and the #15. We might be able to throw in Kenny if we get to keep the 15.

    Maybe:

    KG

    for

    Griffin
    Mo or Cato
    Rice
our first pick (anywhere from 1-6....depending on where we wind up decides how valuable it is)
our 2nd pick or Kenny T

That's about as good an offer as we can make. We would lack depth, but Francis, Cat, and KG are all good for 38+ minutes a game so we would only need to add a 3 (probably with the 15 pick or we would use Kenny T if we kept him) and use either Mo or Cato as the starting C (though we'd need to deal our 2 second rounders to move up to get a backup center).

If you were Minnesotta, how does this sound:

    Antwan Jamison
    Larry Hughes
    Fortson
    #1 pick

    for

    KG
    Joe Smith

    Minny:

    Nesterovic/Jaxx/Woods
    Jamison/Jaxx
    Wally/Trent
    Hughes/Peeler
    Brandon/Billups

Jason Williams? Yao Ming? Qyntel Woods? Add teh #1 pick to that, tha's a damn god trade for them.

    Golden State:

    Dampier/Foyle
    Joe Smith/Troy Murphy
    Garnett/(MCE exception)
    Richardson/Sura
    Arenas/Sura/Oliver

    Thats pretty damn good too.

But the problem with ALL this talk is this:

KG wants to win, and the Wolves WILL consider that. That's why we betetr be competitive if we get him.

Actually that deal from G.S. would be very appealling for both teams. I would question whether Jamison can play PF, which could be a big factor but other than that it seems to work both ways. G.S. has a lot of talent they can give up to get that one big stud in KG (Jamison, very high pick, and one of their solid big guys). If I were G.S. I would do it and if I'm Minny and I'm gonna trade KG then that could be as good a deal as possible.

However, what does that have to do with the Rockets?

Okay.....I say, IF we can somehow get the number 1 lottery pick, trade it, MoT, our #15, and either Mooch or Cato as a cap filler, plus maybe a future lotto pick to seal the deal for KG.....straight up. This probablly is as realistic as a Rocket championship in the near future, but it does have its perks. I don't know if this possible under both teams' salary situations but it might be beneficial for each.

If the T-Wolves are for real about exploding their team and trying to rebuild for the future, as many have said, and the fact that they are on probation and will and have not had a lotto pick for 3 years, our 3 lottery will be a welcome addition to them. This will give them nice, young replacements to build their franchise around, which is what they desire. Plus, Mo-T would fill the crucial hole left by KG's departure, and either Mooch or Cato could prove to bbe a crucial player off the bench.

This way we could keep our core of young stud players (Franchise, Cat, and Grif.) The trade would leave the Rocks with a sweet, sweet line-up, and a perrenial championship-caliber team:

Francis / possibly Mooch / Brown
    Mobley / Torres
    Griffin / Rice / KG
    KG / KT /
    possibly Cato / Collier

No way the Wolves do it without 2 possible stars being involved. We would have to start with EG and our first pick is the other potential star. Other than that we offer salary filler and another pick or Kenny T.

3 1st round picks and fillers will not get KG. Maybe if they knew for sure that Ming would play for a team in Minny then they would think about it, but more than likely we'd need our #1 AND EG to even spark a conversation.

If they substituted the 5th pick for Glen Rice then I would do that trade. Cat is a good 2 guard and I'd hate to give him up. I don't know if he's as good as Szcerbiak or Stackhouse, but even if he were, I'd still trade him for Garnett. Finding a replacement for shooting guard would be much easier then finding another proven franchise player like Garnett.

    Future Staring Lineup:
    C: Kelvin Cato
    PF: Kenny Thomas
    SF: Kevin Garnett
SG: Qyntel Woods or Caron Butler
    PG: Francis

The one thing that makes this whole deal ridiculous is Garnett's contract. I'd be happy to trade for him if he made $12/13 mill per year, but at $24 bucks? Fugggedaboutit!

    Look at the contracts:

    Francis: 12
    Garnett: 24
    Cato: 7

That's $43 big bucks per year on just 3 players. You can't build a championship team with the amount of money that you would have left over after that.

I agree. Garnett's a good player, but I'd still say he's overpaid. At 24 million, that's too much. Heck, that's double of what Francis makes.

Yeah but its still not as good as:

    Francis
    Mobley
Odom or Rashard or a 3 drafted with our fifth pick
    Eddie Griffin
    Maurice Taylor

And we can still have a bench that is remotely decent in Cato, KT, Morris, Oscar, Moochie and Rice.

Have you heard of the salary cap?

If so, then you would know that it's irrelevent because the Rockets will be over the cap next year and the year after that and the year after that...

3 first round draft picks in one draft? you better believe that's enough to get KG. Throw in an excellent player like Mo T, and you have a deal.
Only problem is salaries would never match.

Anyways. About the GS trade.. There are LOTS of favourable deals out there, but Minny will definitely look to trade KG to a winner. Which is why, we can't trade too much to get him, because then we become the Wolves, just in a different City. Know what I'm saying?

I think the team with the best chance at KG is the Clippers.

    Odom (extension)
    Kandi (re-signed)
    #8
    #12

    for

    KG
    Loren Woods

That would be an excellent deal for both sides. They can package Wally and one of those picks for a SG. They can pick Kareem Rush and trade Waly and Joe Smith for another PF.

Lots of options, both teams improve, Clipps go through the roof.

    Woods/MCE
    Brand/Miles
    Garnett/Maggette
    Q Rich/Piatowski
    Mcinnis/Dooling

    and

    Kandi/Nesterovic
    MJaxx/Joe Smith
    Odom/Trent
    #8/Peeler
    Terrell Brandon/Billups

Wally and the #12 can fetch one more impact player. (a PF)

    Very nice, don't you think?

I think you guys are underrating Garnett. No way would Minnesota give away their franchise player for 3 draft picks. A player that is an MVP candidate every season. A guy that is loved an adored by the fans of Minnesota. Trading him for a few draft picks would be the stupidest thing the Wolves could do. I would rank Garnett up their with Duncan and Shaq. Do you think we would be able to trade 3 draft picks for Duncan or Shaq?

Garnett gives the Rockets the go to post up player that they have been lacking since Olajuwon. Getting him would almost guarentee the Rockets a 50 win season. Not only that, but getting Garnett would do wonders for ticket sales and helping get some fan interest back on the Rockets.

I'd let KG win a single playoff series before I compared him to two champions and MVP players.

Accordingly, the original trade offer is too much for a big man without a great back to the basket game and one that lacks assertiveness in the fourth quarter.

    New Jack,

I'm not underrating Garnett. I know how good he is. But YOU are underrating 3 first rounders. What better way to start rebuilding than 3 players who are at the latest, 23 yrs old?

Think. If they had #5, #8, and #12 for example. You know what they could get?

With #5, they can get Woods. This guy is the real deal. McGrady the 2nd, but better apparently (from what everyone's saying). Work ethic is there. He's working out this WHOLE summer on his body and his post game with Dantley, the post up MASTER. Adding that dimension to his game would make him, well, already a STAR in his rookie year. He's around 20 yrs old. That's not half of Garnett?

With #8, Nene Hilario. Supposedly a cross between hakeem and Kenyon Martin. Which is basically Hakeem when he was a rookie. What he needs to improve? Footwork and FT's. Both VERY fixable. His footwork is said to be average, so that's not a big issue. His FT's have a hitch, and scouts say it can be easily fixed. Did I forget to mention he's TURNING 20?

With the #12, they can pick up sweet shooting Kareem Rush. Don't know much about this guy, haven't seen him play, but the notes are nice:
    "NBA Comparison: Allan Houston

Strengths: Quite possibly the top scorer returning to the college game. When he's hot, watch out, the ball will find the net. Can score in a variety of ways, and his outside J is money, as evidenced by his higher shooting % behind the arch than in front of it. Not even the athlete of undrafted brother of Jaron, but plays the game entirely more cerebrally, and has a much better offensive game. Very smooth player, good decision maker who plays under control. One of the best jump shooters in the college game today.

Weaknesses: Must cut down on the turnovers. Passing and ballhandling are aspects to work on. Not a mindboggling athlete. Also must become better at taking games over in crunch time."

That's 3 spots taken. Solid young building foundations. But it ain't over. There's Wally, who's going to be traded. They can easily get something very good for Wally, Terrell Brandon, and Nesterovic for Jeff Mcinnis and Corey Maggette. This is what you then have:

    M-Jaxx/Loren Woods/Player X (2nd rounder)
    Nene Hilario/Joe Smith/Trent
    Woods/Maggette/Trent
    Kareem Rush/Maggette
    Jeff Mcinnis/Chauncey Billups

Future looks much brighter, yes? This is without whatever fillers they get to complete depth.

This team may VERY VERY well end up 10 times the team Minny is with Garnett's 24 million.

Wow! Where to begin....1st of all, I'd say your prognosis for the yet-to-be-drafted young players is extremely optimistic, to say the least...History shows that, on average, most draft classes produce 1 or 2 real stars, a handfull of starters, and the rest are role players or CBAers, after a few years...Prognasticators like NBADraft.net ALWAYS overestimate class value, in particular with their player comparisons...and Hilario is a perfect example...he's compared with 2 clear-cut 1st overalls, and projected to go 8th!?!? And Hakeem without the footwork is like Barry Sanders without the moves....Rush's eval dates back to before the season began...And if Woods were really T-Mac, but better, explain how 4 players will be taken ahead of a better version of a guy many consider to be the best all around player in the game....

But my primary point is this: WHen it comes to superstars, many are lauded, few deliver. Garnett has...those others haven't. When compensation was considered for FA's signed, the most popular proposal was equal to that of the NHL...5 1st rounders...3, for a fantastic young superstar, seems a tad low...Essentially, they would get for Garnett what they were originally punished for the Joe Smith fiasco...
