Can anybody tell me what "skip to my lou" means?
I know the Chinese version, but LOU refers to what?
    LOU=SOUL ?
    LOU is a slang?

I think the overreacting comments are because of all of the "Season is over, we are giving up, our team is screwed, Rafer was a GREAT point guard" threads that have been started (and deleted :p ) since the announcement.

He was what he was (or is). A mediocre point guard who is as good as he was ever going to get.

Now we received a younger, mediocre point guard who has a pretty darn good upside.

I can see some people not agreeing with the trade, but most of the threads are borderline ridiculous...especially considering all of the "Trade Rafer", "Rafer sucks" threads that have dominated this forum for years

Agreed! We need to give the young guys chance! On the other hand, Rafer has been playing well the last couple of games, it is a good time to sell high on him. Had Rockets traded T-Mac before the season starts, we would not have had the problems right now.

Let's wait and see how Lawry airball threes and Brooks passing to Yao below waist constantly. That would be fun.

I would have been happy to see Rafer go for a bag of chips if the salaries matched up...

People forget he shot 30% from the field and which is as good as a turnover... so to say he had a low turnover ratio is being oblivious of the fact that every time he shot it, it rarely went in...

Not really the same situation. Ron was a proven all-star and pretty good player. Rafer Alston is a below average starter who was the weakest part of the Rockets team for his entire tenure here.

I can see that. I agree as well that this season isn't over. I think we may still make the playoffs, but I honsetly felt our chances and at least our depth were much better if we stood pat given the options. I really hope I am wrong.

For the record I never really dogged Rafer. He is what he is, but I can't recall too many realistic instances when we had a chance at a clear upgrade over him.

Lowry wont be shooting an ass load of bricks from 3 point range, its not his game. Its not rafer's game either but that didnt stop him from shooting them

we haven't been able to get an upgrade. there hasn't been a lot of good FA point guards...most have come to teams via the draft as lottery picks.

I hope you are wrong as well. Time will tell. I wish Skip nothing but the best...I am just kind of floored at the negative reaction to losing him.

it is annoying how people act like rafer is such a big deal around here. For goodness sake we got him when he was entering his prime at 27 for mike freaking james. It's not like we just traded kobe for some fillers, we traded a 32 yr old pg who at most was gonna be our pg for 1 more season for a kid who at 23 likes to attack the hoop and wasn't getting pt in memphis bc he backed up a pg who was the #3 pick in the draft and the other guard in memphis might be one of the next great gaurds in the NBA in oj mayo. Lowry at nova was maybe the best player on a team that featured foyr and allan ray.

Have you watched Lowry play? Do you have any idea about his skills in regards to entry passes? Or are you just pissed about losing Rafer?

Here's what I WON'T miss...a PG who can't finish under the basket, a PG who has never shot 40% from the three point line but who takes lots of 3's, a PG who was a bad defender (though he did give effort), a PG who took ill advised shots often 4 seconds into the shot clock at inopportune times, a PG who gets destroyed in postups by stronger PG's, a PG who was overpaid and should be a backup but who was a starter due to us not having better options...

But that's just my opinion, which clearly differs from yours

I honestly don't know how it will turn out, but I'm not happy with the trade. Thats all.

On the flip side though. Yes Rafer was not an all-star, but now we got people acting like Lowry is the final piece to the championship puzzle. I mean damn, they're already giving them nicknames!

I love AB, but lets let these guys fit into their new roles before we start crowning them the best PG tandem.
