Just a quick look at their hotzones

I'm obviously a fan of this trade, and I've wanted Lowry as a realistic option for a while. Rafer fits better into the three-point shooting of our team, but Lowry definitely has a much better upside to his game.

    He can penetrate

And his two point shot is solid, and his form will allow him to improve with experience

Think of him as a potential tony parker type of player, one who uses his drive with the occasional long two. He's obviously not close to Tony, but he does play excellent defense.

    Thank you. A positive thread.

I'm so tired of reading through these threads and everyones calling Lowry "garbage". The guy hardly plays enough for him to showcase his skills.

Reading on Memphis forums and boards, a lot of them like him and feel he would perform better if he got the majority of minutes over Conley.

    Compare him to Rondo.

    Bad Shooter? Check

    Good Defender? Check

    Good Penetrator? Check

    6'1? Check

Surrounded by good players instead of scrubs? Check

How about passing? Rondo is a PG. Lowry, along with Brooks are SG.

so he penetrates and finishes like rondo and can shoot mid range like sam cassell or andre miller

i think this will turn out to be a good trade. i will take a player who recognizes his strengths and weaknesses and plays within his abilities than one who thinks he is better than chris paul

we were going nowhere with alston so iam glad we are changing direction here

Yes and that is the problem. He isn't playing behind Chris Paul or Deron Williams. I am somewhat relieved to see that his midrange game isn't as bad as I thought.

    No, no, no.

    Lowry and Brooks are PGs.

Is it just me or does Lowry tend to operate in an area covered by a 7'6 giant on our team? its goona be tough for him to keep driving with Yao clogging the middle

I like lowry as a starter because he finishes strong, creates offense, and most of all ISN'T a defensive liability all the time because of his large body type. AB on the other hand is tiny and misses most of his layups.

Last season, I'd have agreed with you. Not this season, have you been watching Wafer or Brooks?

We always had players that couldn't drive well, so it seemed like that.

From the games I've seen, Lowry is very hesitant to shoot the 3. He loves to drive to the basket or do a pull up midrange jumper.

One thing you gotta think is this: we won't see 1-15 in any of our point guard.

Rafer is great, but inconsistency is not something you want in your point guard position in a contender.

Fisher: You know what he'll bring.
Rondo: Not a great shooter, but consistent

Rafer: Keeps shooting, never know when he is on or off.

Our starting point guard will be able to dunk and have explosive ability with a quick first step! We have a physical point guard that goes into the contact and draws fouls. We have a point that other teams have to at least try to defend now instead of leaving our point wide open!

I agree, with Brooks, Shane, Artest, Barry and Wafer I think we have enough 3pt shooters.

What I want to know is if this guy can get the ball into Yao.

Also, Lowry is only 22 years old, thats 10 years younger. Brain Cook is 28 yrs old, 6ft9, with a deadly shot outside 3pt line, AND a 3.5mil expiring contract.

come on guys, you cant call this trade a bad trade.

Rafer's day in Houston was long over, despite all those lawsuits and DUI charges, his inconsistency on defense end, shooting % and passing proved he is not the PG to go next lvl. Its better to try out some other options now.

Lowry can be better than both, currently he isn't though. Rockets should have traded Luther Head though. As I said, Lowry is the next Rondo or Kidd. I am telling you guys this again.

Although I don't like the trade much, I will give this thread 5 stars.

Agreed, We are going to see more fundamental basketball with Lowry. To be fair, although Alston has matured a lot and doesn't really play like a streetballer anymore, that floater is a streetball move and he should honestly just add a finger roll in his game.

The fact that Lowry only has 60 less attempts than Alston and Brooks in the paint despite playing such little minutes impress me.

I am impressed with Lowry at this point with his scouting report, everything really. Next Rondo or Kidd right there. I hope Rondo, because Kidd is overrated :p

Wait, he's the fat one? In my mind, I've been picturing Conley as Lowry.

He's a stocky Point guard, his size is like Jameer Nelson except much stronger. Jameer is very small. In my opinion Lowry looks like he's 6'1 not 6'0. Anyways, even if he is fat it's probably because of the amount of playing time he gets in Memphis for some reason. Lowry is strong though, that's probably why he's so big. Even Deron Williams is quite fat/stocky.
