This team didn't need anymore players who bring "intangibles." I like Shane Battier and Chuck Hayes because of the effort they bring but at what point do you stop bringing in undertalented "glue guys" and start looking at the deficit in talent between your squad and the ones you're wanting to beat in the playoffs?
Because Brooks is very capable of becoming Rafer-esque for huge stretches of games and the only backup PG the Rockets have now can't throw a stone in the ocean. The position of PG has almost certainly been downgraded from being well-below average to the worst in the league. You don't think that impacts the Rockets chances of getting to the playoffs. Having the worst PG in the league?
Look at Battier, Morey likes these kind of non-flashy, but defensive-minded and offensive-effective players.
Intangibles? If you know anything about basketball stats you know that the box score does not represent every, if any, aspect of the game. Steals, Assists, Blocks, Rebounds, Points are only what people use in Fantasy leagues. Not by Morey.
