This no venting thread, just a serious question: Why didn't the Rockets, since they wanted to move Rafer, try to upgrade the PG position ? Get a young guy like Raymon Felton, who the Bobcats were looking to move, instead of a guy who has not proven himself yet ? To any person with some brains this is litterly a sign the Rockets organisation has given up on the team. Why would they throw in the towel like that, because Tracy is out ?? What is the logic behind downgrading a position instead of upgrading it ?? We still have a great team and maybe an upgrade at PG or whatever weak position the organisation feel the Rockets team has would've put us in a position to get past the first round. Now they are sending the team without a floor leader into the playoffs, because let's face it: Rafer was the floor general, especially with Tracy out !!
This could possible clear up some salary space to sign Bibby (Adelman's PG in SAC) during the offseason
Resign Artest and pick up bibby with this salary dump this summer, make room with T-Mac's expiring contract. Seems to me like Adelman is trying to rebuild the rockets into his sacramento-mold team
bob (north carolina): Is the Rockets trade a good trade? SportsNation John Hollinger: Thinking about how long they've been trying to get rid of Rafer and how little success they've had interesting buyers ... and to get a young PG in return, even one who's kind of rough around the edges? That's a really solid trade. we are lucky to unload Rafer without losing 1st round pick.
I have no clue why does trade was made at all, Why would you waste your time wanting more money in the off-season? Who can the Rockets even sign? This team always talks about we need to win it all NOW, and Morey is making trades where they are suppose to be good in the future. This is just stupid, this team is not suppose to be rebuiliding.
Because no one that was willing to deal a guy like Felton wanted to take back Rafer Alston in return. The deal worked out perfectly. The Magic get their emergency PG so that they can at least make a decent attempt at the ECF. Houston gets a guy that will probably turn out to be better in the long run in Lowry. The Magic could've just straight up dealt for Lowry, but they wanted the PG that could make a difference now rather than the guy they would have to coach to become a decent starter, only to have him being Nelson's sub next season.
Its not necessarily rebuilding trying to set some money to resign artest and maybe bibby, its trimming the fat. I am against the Alston trade for the fact that he was our quarterback running things right now, but brooks was solid when he started, and Alston was overpaid for what he was accomplishing on the floor.
