Yes there SHOULD be another, but sure doesn't look like it. Trade deadline ended almost an hour ago. Looks like this is it unfortunately.... Foolish move by management. We actually had a good team
I actually like the trade. Rafer isn't in our long term plans, so its no big deal. I still think the rockets will make the playoffs and possibly get passed the first round. I think our post-season prospects are the same, with or without rafer. We were able to get a young attacking PG that fits better in Adelmans motion offense and still has some potential left. We were able also to get a PF with range all the way to the 3 point line, which is something we haven't had since Scot Padgett. This trade looks like it has Adelmans fingerprints all over it.
Im kinda in between about it. On one hand we give AB the keys and obtain a younger guard plus adding more height to the frontcourt (Cook), but we lose a leader and friend to all on the team. One thing I don't like is that this could be all we get for Rafer. I want a first round pick out of this!!!!!!!
So you don't think losing Rafer is a killer for the Rockets? I always felt Rafer's toughness and tenacity would be hard to replace. Now we traded him for practically nothing and did not get an upgraded PG in the process. IMHO, Rockets lost a big piece for Depth.
I don't feel too good about this trade if nothing else happens, it just doesn't seem to fit right unless someone else is moved... I can't see Lowry and Brooks being our main options at PG with Barry helping out, and Cook will just be getting splinters if nothing else happens... seems peculiar to me...
If you think that Kyle Lowry fits better than Rafer Alston into motion offense then you need to pay attention more or at least needed to pay attention more to the Alston's role in offense. Heck, Rockets even lost two games to Utah last year because they couldn't fit without Rafer.
gotta agree... I guess we are giving up on our chances for this year. I don't see any other trades happening now.
I dont like this trade, we are giving up chemistry and a facilitator and not really improving our team in any way.
Last year, you couldn't wait to throw Rafer under the bus. Up to a month ago, he still had many bad games, and he still has bad games now. Overall, Rafer has done reasonably well this year but still, at his age, he has no upside. It's very likely that he will reverse to his own mediocre self that you guys loathed so much. I will withhold my judgement until I see the new guys close up.
It's hard to say right now, but I can't say I didn't know the fan base would be whining per usual. I hope it works out, and I definitely think it can. We traded one role player for two role players. People really underrate that sometimes.
This is definetly a bad trade, because it's a cost cutting move and we all know how Leslie likes his $$$ !!!! Look at how Rafer was playing lately, check the freaking Nets game !!! He was balling, doing streetball moves and made some great plays with Scola. He seemed to connect on the threes, was having 10+ assist games, what more do you want ???? Especially when you look at what we're getting, another 6'9 PF and a rookie ass PG, didn't we have one of those already ?? I cannot and will not accept this. Damn you Leslie, Morey and everybody involved !!!
I noticed the trade mentioned two more players coming our way to make the salary match. Could Darius Miles be one of the players? any word yet on the other two?
Very surprised at how overwhelmingly CF fans disapprove of this trade-- as many complaints as I read about Rafer...
