Barring something else happening, terrible trade. People are hard on Skip, but he was decent. We might not even make the playoffs now.
Rafer was overpaid at 4.5mil for this year and next. Cooks 3.5mil comes off the books at the end of the season, and he can provide the 3 point shot that Brent Barry cant do.
Can't believe we traded our starting pg for Lowry. This guy can't even shoot and with a team that has Yao Ming to command double teams...what good is Lowry? We traded a streaky shooter for a non shooter.
Dude, im going to miss Rafer. Aside from the inconsistant shooting, here's a guy who always comes prepared for the season, always is in great shape, plays his heart out and plays with a similar intensity and drive as Artest. I'm glad we sent him a team that has a good outlook.
Even if we get a elite PG in return from separate trade, I still don't understand why are we trying Rafer for bag of chips... Rafer could be the best backup in the league regardless who we bring in...
No way this trade goes down without something else in the works. Hold on guys, something will surface soon. Landry will be gone, unfortunately.
there has to be another deal. Y IN THE HELL ELSE WOULD THEY HAVE INVOLVED MEMPHIS? if this was it, we would have just dealt straight with orlando..... right?
I never liked Rafer so who cares. I prefer Wafer than Rafer. As for the trade, I believe in Morey so he might know something that we don't.
I don't want Baron, but I agree that I don't understand this deal if we're not trading for a clear starter at PG. We don't save any money either this year or next by trading Rafer for Lowry and Cook. What would make sense is if we traded Rafer to adjust the roster for a deal for a starting PG. For example, Artest, Landry, Head, and Barry for Bibby and Mo Evans works. Bibby has an expiring contract this season and could in theory be a good fit at PG for this team. Evans helps plug the loss of depth at the wing with Artest gone and T-Mac out. I'm not saying I would advocate something like this; I just agree that I don't understand this deal at all unless it's to complement a bigger deal like what I describe.
If that is true, what's the point of these deals? Artest, Landry and Alston only for one PG? Unless it is CP3.
of all our starters/key players, I was def willing to give up Rafer. Didn't want to see Artest, Landry, or even Battier go, but I was ok with Rafer goin in a good deal. This deal doesn't seem to make much sense. ANother financial deal perhaps?? Cook is the laziest excuse for a player ever, he never got any run in Orlando and was lazy in LA. Lowry is a solid prospect, but a starter?? He is less of a shooter than Rafer, but he actually defends better, is faster, and finishes in the lane better. That being said, we need a pg who can stretch the floor. This is a real head scratcher. As far as Rafer, he did his job, he was a tough pg for us. Im really glad we traded him to a contender at least, he deserves it.
