It's that time of year again. School's done for the year. Finals start at UT this Wednesday. For the first time in my four years here, I only have 2 finals, as opposed to 5 last semester: PHY 355 (Quantum Theory and Non-Relativistic) and MAN 335 (Operations Mgmt). Can't wait till this semester's over. Start my fourth internship at Dell a week from Monday. Time to make some money.

Oh ya, electrical engineering blows. Good thing I only have 3 classes left next fall, then I graduate.

Though my apartment resembles a motel with all of my roommate's friends staying here I am still studying, in fact, I am fairly proud of myself this semester, today I spent 4 hours studying and have been studying everyday since Tuesday. I have to do well on finals this semester, so I am busting my ass with school right now. T-minus 10 days till school is officially over.

I have two finals, both on friday so me and books won't be together too much until thursday or so. one of them is thermo and we've got almost everything typed in our calculators (hopefully the thermo prof doesn't read cc.net) b/c the final is just old hw problems and he gives us those solutions. did i mention we found all of the solutions at the beginning of the semester and had them typed in for every quiz beforehand, very nice. the other is unit operations, and well, it's gonna suck ass. the fluid mechanics, it's like the second test which was very hard, and the heat transfer stuff is gonna be a combo of the stuff we've learned, unlike anything we've done so far. but damn only 2 finals is sweet and having about 6 days off is sweet. much basketball to be played this week in lieu of studying.

Did anyone of yall ball at Gregory yesterday afternoon in a white Rockets shirt? You were a real tall white guy.

You suck cause not only did you dominate us short guys, but you can't dunk either :p

I'm halfway home on my finals, completed 2 last week, and have 2 more on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Then it's time to move out and clean my apartment so the apartment Nazis won't charge $50 for every single crack caused by their bad property construction...

I'm Asian. We occassionally play with a short white guy who can't miss from the outside. I never called him Larry, just "shooter". Is that you?

possibly. i can shoot damn good when i'm on. if you play at like 11 pm-1 am, that's when i'm always there, usually in the gym with only 3 courts. lots of times i'm like the only white guy and its a bunch of asians. so maybe we've seen each other. of course, i don't really know anyone's name and they don't know mine so it'd be pretty hard to know if we've played together.

Hey Smokey, if you saw a blonde dude with blue shorts off to the side in the volleyball courts launching treys from out of bounds, that was me. I can't play anymore, so all I can do is shoot around. By the time I am ready to play again, I am going to have like, unlimited range.

I took a final last night for this highly annoying f*cking prerequisite class for my MBA program in undergrad Finance.

The teacher I had had to be the worse teacher I think I have ever had for an undergraduate class.

He made this final, which was departmental and written by him and the 5 other faculty members, 40% of our f*cking grade! I rode up there last night with one of my best friends and his wife (who is also in the class but in a different section) & she was told by some other people that their teachers were only making the final 10 to 15 % of their grade. It was really weird, almost surreal, as almost everyone on campus at 5:30 Friday night were people who had to take this damn final.

Fortunately, this class does not count towards my GPA since I'm in the Master's program and it is an undergraduate class. I just had to make sure that I could get at least a C- in order to get reimbursed of the tuition expenses from work. I think I did okay enough to get that, but it is going to be close if I made a B in that class.

My other final is on Monday night and it is in my first grad class, Managerial Economics. I got like a 91 going into the final but that is not counting my group paper which was turned in last week. This final is not comprehensive and is only over 2 chapters. I probably should be studying for it now, but I haven't. I will study tomorrow afternoon with the other members of my group and some tomorrow night. I might look at it some tonight if I get bored. But after that one, I'm done and I get to enjoy 3 months off from school!

Did you have to take the GMAT to get into the MBA program and if yes, what was your score? :)

If you play 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 with a bunch of Asians on the volleyball side (not track), then I bet we've played together. Don't worry about being the only white guy, I'm the only Indian guy in my group. Next time I play with who I think you are I'll start calling one of my friends Collier or mention something on CC.net then if you respond, I'll know its you.

you don't happen to have a girlfriend who wore blue jeans and a red shirt tied up above her stomach to the gym one night about a week ago and just sat on the side and watched people shoot. or if not a g/f a girl you talked to while shooting. cuz i think i saw a guy with blue shorts shooting from out of bounds a lot but never played. seemed like he had brown hair but i forget.

so is this the official not studying thread or take a guess if you've seen me at gregory thread.

i was thinking it would be awkward if i asked someone if they were smokey and they weren't (they'd be like wtf) but since the code word is collier, there's no way in hell anyone else would talk about this so i think i'm safe. i'll listen to see if an indian starts talking about big JC.

Yes, MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University, also my alma mater - B.S. in math in '95) required it. I believe almost every school that offers a MBA requires it.

My score?? Hehe...wasn't all that good. I actually did outstanding in critical writing scoring like 90% but it didn't count towards my overall score. This leads me to ask why in the hell have this?

My score was very mediocre like I think 470, but all I had to do was make a 220 because MTSU's requirement was your GPA X 200 + GMAT score had to equal at least 950. My GPA was 3.65 as an undergrad, so that multiplied by 200 was approximately 731 meaning I had to make at least a 219 to 220 on it. You get like a 200 just for putting your name on it, so I wasn't sweating it. I believe the highest you could get was an 800 but I can't remember. However, I have never been good at standardized tests, but I didn't sweat this one.

Yes, almost all of them. I applied to this one, they don't require it, surprisingly: http://gsb.uchicago.edu/dynamic.asp?nNodeID=145

Yes, sucks, when I took the GMAT, I was completely unprepared, the only thing I knew was where I had to show up, and even for that, I was late. Then I wrote these mini-essays and only later found out that they don't count towards the total score. Probably wasn't a very good idea to take the GMAT without even knowing that they were going to ask all these math questions I had not dealt with since high school...so I was just barely average (50th percentile) on that part (I was in the 99th percentile for everything else, though). I was considering taking it again, but since this school which is my preferred choice doesn't even require it...I thought...what the heck.
