Explain to me by why warrior fans in Oakland call him

    Corey "Bad p*rn" Maggette.

a lot of penetrating and scoring, but you aren't really liking what you're seeing.

More than good enough.....he is an adequate defender, fairly good rebounder, and can pass when asked (he is just not asked to that much).

The guy fits PERFECTLY.......it is ok, I know I am right.

    :D

Because they are frustrated that Baron Davis left and the team fell apart, and they are laying the blame at the new guys feet.

the thing that I remember most about magette is during that big clippers / phx series a few years back during a very crucial moment of the 4th quarter magette tried to take over the game by himself. this resulted in back to back turnovers in the most spectacular fashion. he's pretty dumb.

You are putting too much into Maggette... I dont think he is a passer, because he has never passed.. on the Clips or the Warriors... I am not sure about his rebounding, but his defense is mediocre at best... If we were to get ANYONE from that team, Captain Jack is who I want. He does it all. Maggette is not the solution.

Uh, if we looked at one game to make our decisions on players what would we be saying about players?

Maggette is far from dumb, watch him move OFF the ball to get in great scoring position, that fits perfectly on an Adelman run team.

Well, if the Spurs wanted him too, I think he is good enough, and right for the Rockets as well.

We don't necessarily need more passing, but we darned well need better finishing....

DD, I have some friends that are hardcore San Antonio Spur fans (two of them are really students of the game and really know what their talking about) and they keep asking me what are the rockets going to do as far as trades go. And when I mentioned names like Carter, Stoudamire, Maggette ect. I kinda responses as if any of those aquisitions don't scare them, but when I mentioned Baron Davis they almost want to poop their pants. I think Davis and Yao would be an absolute deadly combination, hence giving the rockets the head and the tail so to speak. Davis is probably still one of the toughest covers in the game, his contract is long but the rockets time is now.

If we can get any elite or near elite player like Davis or Maggette for TMac's contract, I think it would be a major win.

You have to realize though (I am sure you do) that his contract next year might be one of the most valuable trade assets the Rockets have ever had. I am with you though, get rid of him ASAP at all costs.

That is overated by most people in the media etc....

As an example, just look up to Marbury in New York, how valuable has that contract been?

    Exactly !

The Knicks aren't shopping that contract because they want the cap space for 2010. Why would they want to get rid of Marbury's $20 Million expiring contract?

But if they keep him, I see the team this season at best getting past the 1st round. T-Macs contract will be very valuable next year, but in my eyes their time is now.

The value his contract has to us NEXT year is the same value it will have to a team that receives him in a trade THIS year. And, we have an opportunity to be the only player now rather than one of a dozen next year. Let everyone else fight in 2010, I say make a move NOW if we can!!

You must not remember this story http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3682264

The Knicks have no need for trading Marbury unless they were getting great young talent in return. They were never looking for somebody to try and help them win now like we will be next year. Why would they want $20 Million in contracts? The Knicks were trying all year to buy out Marbury and that just never happened. Trust me they could get Baron Davis right now for Marbury if they wanted to. You seem to not be realizing that we want veteran players and not cap space while the Knicks want young players and cap space. Our situations are completely different.

I think it all depends on what we give up to acquire him/them, the two scenarios I see:

T-Mac to Clippers - Save money and take part in the infamous 2010
Camby to Golden State - Get a good player with a shorter contract
Davis and Maggette to Rockets - Some talent and depth next to Yao
    (fillers may be needed)

Battier + filler for Maggette - It's clear Battier is not the same defender he once was, and Maggette is a far superior player than Battier on offense

What's happened with T-Mac has happened. But to wait till 2010 to get Yao some help may not be smart. in 2010 Yao will be 30, not sure how long Centers with his size and lack of agility have lasted in the NBA. Our window is closing, so rather than wait to get something "great" which may or may not happen in 2010, let's get him some help now!
