hollinger must have been looking at too many numbers if he thougth we were better with t-mac this year than without.

ESPN in my opinion has no credability when refering to the rockets if you ask me.

They have always looked at every Houston team as if we were a Third World Country. They speak about this team only looking at a stat sheet one of their many interns printed up 5 minutes before and hardly ever give an opinion that actually makes sense when you are looking at if from a Houston perspective where we are here witnessing it every day.

Sporting News, CBS, SI are more in the range of what I listen to when it comes to the Rockets

[...yawn...] I like Hollinger but he's probably just saying this to stick with his original "The Rockets are good but they can't do it without McGrady" premise he struck up after we narrowly lost to the Lakers back in January.

he didn't give ONE reason as to why not. i'm not particularly sure we can win a championship this year but that was horribly anticlimactic. at least say something cliche like: without tmac's playmaking ability, the rockets will struggle down the stretch to get good shots against stifling playoff defense. i'd rather that than, "scratch em off."

So people doubt the Rockets after an injury. What else is new...

I think it makes us more dangerous. People will step up to fill the void.

If all the media wrote us off their title contender books, it would be a blessing to us.

The "title contender", "Big 3" talks have been the monkey on our back the whole season so far. Time to shake it off and move on.

And I will not be dissappointed if we can only got pass the first round of playoffs, but that's my bottom line expectation to this year's team too.

They just updated the Rocket's roster in NBA 2k9 without McGrady. It's less fun to play with them now. :(

I'm sorry, but that "journalist" used the word "weirdly" to start off a sentence. I stopped reading the article before I even began reading it because of the goofy stat sheet thing, "with battier, with t-mac" graphic.

Bottom line, the Rockets are better with a HEALTHY T-Mac, but with an unhealthy T-Mac it's like we're playing 4 on 5. So, now that he says he's done, we can just move on and play with the guys we have. I think we can compete fairly if it weren't for the bias the league has for a Lakers/Celtics finals. ZzzZzzZzzZzz... (That's me snoozing at a Lakers/Celtics Finals. And just because it was the glory days of the 80's, it doesn't mean it has to be that way now. That's just an old dog (David Stern) not able to think outside of the box. P.S. Mr. Stern, Can Yao finally get some calls?) Real basketball purists just want to see the best teams. Casual fans? well, they are always gonna be casual, just accept it. But I digress cuz I'm getting off subject.

I also want to take the time to say I think that most of the ppl on the Clutch BBS board are too hard on our players, we should just report on facts and funnies and not solely express our unpaid, non-professional opinions. (lol)

Like the fact that JVG is the reason why the Rockets didn't Amare Stoudamire. We won more games than we should have...thus losing out on Brandon Roy and then trading Rudy Gay who could have been the piece the Suns wanted in a trade for Stoudamire. If JVG would have just lost a couple of more games... Damn him. Damn him and his great basketball brain to hell.

Taken from the Summer Rookie League in the LBC 2003.

lol what the hell is wrong with you guys, all negative response to an otherwise good article.

you didn't even read it. shut up. what is this--With McGrady: 10-10
    Without McGrady: 12-4?

so what if we narrowly lost to the lakers. There's close to zero chance we'll be able to beat the fakers in a seven game series when the intensity goes up, and that's what matters. sadly.

how about the fact that we can no longer pull of an impact trade.
how about our original ceiling is now capped.

you guys just bash without reading the article. dun make comments juz by reading the title plz. wht a bunch of idiots.

On the other note, I really do hope we beat Portland or NO or Denver come playoff times.

I feel that it would be the ultimate F-U from the whole team on T-slack the first round virgin.

I think the general premise of his article is this.

    1. The Rockets are a very good team, but not "championship caliber" team right now.
    2. T-Mac is a great player when healthy.
    3. Healthy, motivated T-Mac + Current Rockets team = Championship contender.
    4. Without T-Mac, we are stuck at #1.

I don't see anything wrong with this argument. I mean, I'm optimistic because I'd be unable to watch the Rockets this season otherwise, but the reality is w/o T-Mac our ceiling in the playoffs is a lot lower.

    Thanks for the link

Those numbers are quite shocking, even though we all know we played better without Tracy. The numbers with and without Battier don't say much but these definetly do. If only McGrady hadn't played, who knows what our record could've been.....

I'm merely stating my opinion that I think Hollinger is trying to be consistent with his "Good but not good enough" attitude towards the Rockets. Needless to say, we can all hope he's wrong.
