I know it may be too early to think about this but I think this team has to find another scorer that commands a double team to pair up with Yao next season. No one thinks Artest should be that option so who is out there and what can the FO do to land a sidekick for Yao. I don't want a selfish star. I want some one who is a REAL threat to score and knows who the #1 option on this team is, and thats Yao.
If we dont resign Artest, what about picking up Mike Bibby? He is younger than Alston, and we could probably pick him up for a good price...and it would solve two of our problems : A point guard and a good scorer, not to mention he knows Adelmans offense.
No faith in relying on Brooks? There is a reason we drafted him and he fits into the scheme very well. Have faith.
I think brooks is good, But for a playoff run next year, with Yao, and whatever we do with T-mac and Artest, Bibby starting if we picked him up would give us a really good chance to make another push
From what has been spoken abroad it sounds like Mike is looking at becoming a Rocket already. What I have been requesting is a trade for Caron. I won't rest til this gets done!!! Do it son!
Agreed, but I am hoping that we push for a trade before the deadline which would tie up our budget for the next few years most likely. I think economically, it is a good move to rely on Brooks and hopefully make a push for a Davis or a 2 or some sort. Also, are we planning on resigning Wafer? Cause I think it is a mistake not to. After last night's game against the Nets and the display of quickness he has put on the whole year, it would be a mistake not trying to resign him. We average 4 to 5 more points a game when he plays while McGrady sits and I'll take his defense.
What would be great is if we could resign Artest, and pick up Bibby in the offseason, because he will come cheaper...Head will be gone for a role player or a draft pick most likely, and T-mac's contract will probably be trade bait which will leave us with the money to get Bibby and Artest.
OR, maybe since Tmac has become so accustomed to Houston, he'll resign for less, allowing us to have some freedom in the '10 market. Just tossing that in there.
the way our offense is built, we need shooters. A younger Ray Allen would definitely fit here. Mike Miller would fit good here...he's a pure shooter. we also need some help in the PG position....rafer has been playing better than most of us thought, but we need a true PG...Augustine from bobcats (former Longhorns)
I can't post a new thread cause I don't post much, but i was wondering. Can somebody please give me the percentages that the Rockets actually consider, trading Tmac, not singing Artest, develop some players next year, and then go after LeBron James in 2010????? or Dwyane Wade???? Again I don't know much about the insides of basketball, but could somebody please give me a scenario where this could be somewhat possible? Thanks guys, JLEW1818
1)Les won't want to rebuild. 2)In order to keep Yao we need to make a run in the playoffs next year. 3)This is Moreys time to shine and he will. so....i'd give it 10% chance
If the coaching staff could realize how much potential Wafer has... I mean they could mold Wafer into a very decent starting scorer. ^ That is considering we trade Ron Artest, or move him to the 6th Man spot.
