You know what I felt the same way before I actually visited Lubbock. Lubbock is a great friendly city, and is a perfect culture fit. We got a nice campus and beautiful women. Leach loves Lubbock, just is not a fan of our athletic director, plus the difficulty it is to recruit.
No way, man. Beautiful campus means the school has money to spend on new buildings. UH is broke, hence an UGLY campus (if you disagree, you're fooling yourself). The facilities was one of the biggest knocks on the Law Center while I was there. We were told that we had the oldest facility out of all the law schools in the Top 200.
The Texas Tech Board of Regents has just called a special teleconference for Friday at 2pm. The main item on the agenda for the board is: A. Personnel matters – Section 551.074: Discussion and consideration of matters addressed by Section 02.03.2, Regents’ Rules—including but not limited to the position of the football head coach.
on dallas sports radio one of the hosts just got a txt from a tx tech football walkon player with the news that leach just got fired fwiw
Are you still living in Lubbock? I seem to recall that you had a sports show there. Or I could be completely misremembering...
Lubbock is a horrible place to live IMO. Beyond Tech there is nothing there. You have to drive at least 4 hours to get back to civilization. I lived there while at Tech for 2 years and haven't been back since. The campus is okay, but it's nothing special. Don't get me wrong I had some great times in Lubbock, but it's not somewhere I would want to live again. Especially if I wasn't in school there. Back to the coach. Leach and the school are both fools if they are going to split ways over this. It is absurd for them to loose their coach in the middle of February.
Leach officially declined the offer, the article doesn't say he was fired though. http://www.redraiders.com/2009/02/17/leachs-deadline-passes-with-no-new-agreement/
lots of good info here: These guys are always on top of things about Texas Tech http://everythinglubbock.com/content/fulltext/?cid=27921
Good call. Thanks. That said, if Tech doesn't lock him up they're as big of idiots as the typical graduates! Bum dum bump.
Forget the football, these 2 squaring off in roller derby would be much more exciting. Does the one from Lubbock get to use the horse?
Honest question, Doesn't Leach still have time on his old contract? If they don't come to an agreement on a new contract, doesn't his old one still hold? I guess what I am really asking is if he will be back next year without signing the new contract. Please understand I am very biased on this issue, as I am an Aggie fan, and would like nothing better than to see him gone from Tech. Which is a compliment to him, BTW.
Leach still has 2 years left on his contract. However, it is being rumored that he's been fired from TT.
