He wouldn't have microfracture surgery if he didn't need it. He may not be able to make it back, and he'll probably never be where he was at a couple of years ago. His next contract could very well be the last he ever signs.

 

You forgot to mention that Tmac didn't say those words and it is just what Stephen A. Smith "THINKS".

 

I'm going to call SAS and tell him that I want to be one of the marquee names in 2010 as well. I'm having lap-band surgery now to get healthy for 2010 when everyone will have the cap space for me.

What I find even more amusing is the notion that he would want to have microfracture surgery because he's too lazy to play -- the idea that an unvindicated NBA star like McGrady would basically risk ending his career because he can't deal with a little pain. Obviously he's not at all familiar with what happened to Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway. It is so preposterous to even think about it, but it's yet another symptom of how far over the deep end this board has gone. A four star thread saying "worst wishes for Tracy". This place has become such a garbage dump...even RealGM has way more class than ClutchFans these days.

 

Man Ive been a big Tmac supporter based on his talents and fit with this team....but this is ridiculous if he is gonna have surgery to sit out his final 2 years of his contract with us just to get paid in 2010? Thats a bunch of bs....and I hope it isnt true cause then its all about the money to him and I would be sadly dissapointed...

I'm leaning towards a move that might lead to another move next year maybe. I'm thinkin we'll go after a role player with another year or 2 left on his contract, so we keep building around Yao, and with Rick A type players. Then we'll have TMAC and Rafer's contracts to play with next year (and maybe this player we get). I'm thinkin that teams who have talent, but want to go nuts for 2010 will be willing to deal. We might not get the Labrons, but we could come out very well.
