Since we matched the bobcats offer for landry, we can't trade him for 1 year without his consent. He could very well pull a Devin George! Then Morey would be screwed. I seriously doubt Landry will like the situation at Nets better than in Rockets.
I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd bet Carl is far more concerned with starting at this point in his career than anything else. He has a much better shot at that in New Jersey.
I bet he would want to go to New Jersey. Not a competing team or a nice area to live, but he would have a better chance of starting and getting more minutes.
Why Landry want to play for a never-get-out-first-round, always-injured, no-all-star , cheap and stupid franchise?
I can't see why landry would not want to go to Nets. He's a 20 mpg player in Houston behind Scola, while he could be looking at a much larger role in New Jersey. That should be a good news for Landry as far as his career development is concerned.
If Carl doesn't allow himself to be traded, that could increase the chances of Scola being put in the deal -- which could make him the starter here.
Landry doesn't currently have a starting position in Houston, so keep that in mind. If he gets dealt to a team where the starting slot at PF is wide open, I'm sure he'll be enticed by that.
so is it just the bobcats or is it all teams what we have to have landry's consent? anyone has an official answer?
He'll go to New Jersey and be a 16/9 guy immediately. He's big enough to play the 4 spot full time in the East.
That's it I'm sure the Rockets would hate to lose Landry, but they'd probably put his agent on the plane themselves.
True, but it's hard to believe he would think that way. If I were him and saw a potential starting position in New Jersey I would go for it. Everything is cyclical anyway. Houston is falling apart while New Jersey has a few promising pieces that Carl would fit in nicely with (Harris, Yi, Lopez) and they're looking to land a big name star soon. It could be his opportunity to walk into something great.
As much as I like Landry, trading him may not be such a bad idea. This is only his 2nd year and he hasn't played significant minutes, so It's unclear how solid his knee actually is. I say if the deal's beneficial for the future of the Rockets I wouldn't have a problem shipping him in a package. If it means he gets a starting job why would he neglect such an offer.
durvasa, vetoing a trade and hoping scola gets replaced means Landry is betting the team does not simply call off the trades, does not feel pissed, and proceed to makes the trade with scola. -- that are three things that he have no control of. accepting the trade and try to compete the wide open spot in New Jersey, however, is something he can control. Most people have a tendency to value those kind of situation rather than put the matters in someone else's hand.
