OK-- this is my current situation... I'm coming from Clear Channel Radio, I was a 20 y.o. manager getting the pay of someone at the age of 35... My first ex-employer tracked me down and asked to comeback as Presentation & Graphics Specialist for almost 30% more pay... Stupid little me saw all the green.... So I gave CC my resignation (I was doing them a favor since they were downsizing anyways) yes they did TRY to meet what my CURRENT employer offered. But came up short. Now two months later - I'm not only the Presentation & Graphics Specialist at this employer- im also the Secretary/Admin Assistant/Runner/Executive Assistant and my work is 80% other than creating presentations and graphics... (I also have to fly to Dallas every two weeks - to do work up there) NOW today I was told the company might fold on June 1st. I WAS DUPPED! I loved it at Clear Channel - great people and great management... I asked for my position or ANY other back but they said "Try back in a few months - we currently don't have openings"... I even offered to go back at less than what I was making and a lower level position... So here I am in a HOLE. I don't know what to do!!! I've looked and looked and there aren't that many positions available anywhere... shoot, you're not the only one! I was laid off from my position as a software engineer at Motorola, here in Austin, back in February... it was my first job after graduating from UT a couple of years ago... and in my job search every position wants fresh outs or at least 5 years experience!!! I'm stuck in the middle!!! I've been bored out of my mind at home ever since... watching ESPN and surfing the web can only take up so many hours in the day! luckily i'm an extremely avid runner, so that takes up a lot of my daily time! thanks for letting me vent folks!
