I believe it is time for Francis to move on. I find him to be highly overrated. He doesn't play D; he doesn't hit clutch shots. So what if he is Cuttino's buddy?
The only break is..we don't spend that much money on him. Why not trade him while he still has some upside so to stay?

    A BIG

Not every team can have an Eddie Jones or a Doug Christie playing the 2. Mobley is decent, we need to improve our interior defense to help him out when guys blow by him. Besides, what could we possibly get for Mobley that would be better for this team. Should we go get Bowen from Spurs. He's a great defender, even though he can't shoot to save his life. If we're going to trade our best scorer, then we better get something better in return. I don't think that is possible.

How the in the hell did Wally get an allstar bid over Mobley? There was so much ridiculous hype on Wally this year just because they made him play out of position. If Mobley isn't an allstar next year and Wally is again, there is definately something amuck in this league.

You could say the same thing for Finley. The only difference is that Cat isn't on a good team. The only reason Finley made it to the all-star game is because of the lack of premier 2's in the west. In the east he would be the 8th best tops.

dada, you just hate steve don't ya?

the same thing you said about cuttino applies perfectly to steve, except he's already an all-star and younger.

on the subject, cuttino is one of the best values in the league so being overpaid is ridiculous. he has 30 point a night ability, he just needs to mature.

Actually, Cuttino went on that huge tear after the all star break. before the break, his stats and Wally's were about the same...

I know he didn't go this year, but he went last year with comparable numbers and everyone goes on and on about Finley being an all-star.

Hmm...I made up my mind. This thread is even more stupid than the Francis for Payton thread.

How about, time to GROW Cuttino

He does need to work on his D, but it is better than Steves.
He does need to work on his shot selection.
He does need to work on his passing.

    That said,
He IS only a 3rd yr player.

    He will get better!
    He is REAL cheap!

    So time to grow Cuttino.

Personally, I look foward to it...

Look at Mobley, he's improved himself every year he's been in the league.

After his rookie season he worked on his finish (always a good slasher and penetrator, but he couldn't make easy layups!), then he got better as a rebounder, and last year he made tremendous strides in his outside stroke. I have no doubt that he's going to work hard this offseason to improve some of his defensive lapses and to try to be a little more pass oriented.

He's a fine fit for our team and we have other tradeable pieces. We have a top 5 or 6 pick we could use or deal and if we acquire a PF via trade then we could afford to deal Griffin (though I don't really want to do that). Cat and Steve aren't going anywhere, we just need to be healthy and give them a few more guys to come in and fill holes (namely defense and rebounding).

Yeah, but not when he played. Also Cat played with bad ankles a lot of the year.

Another thing to like about Cat is that he wants to improve. Everyone knows he's a gym rat and he said he plans on taking the younger guys to the gym over the summer and get them in gear. This is very encouraging. Also this is his 4th year, not third.

Also sounds a bit like he's a leader on the team as well....
