Yeah he's gone. Replaced by Alvin Gentry. Let's see how this ties into the trade deadline.

He fits in better but he isn't playing well at all. No defense, lack of athletic ability, coming back from injuries, even his shooting is only starting to gradually get better. I would rather keep Ron unless he is an absolute cancer than getting Mike Miller.
If McGrady was playing well,I wouldn't mind having him even though our main needs in that case would be an upgrade at the 1 and and 5/4 backup.
Those two positions are still important but we need another 2 with Tracy being out.

3rd point... We have no clue on Tracy's future.

If we trade Tracy and his 21 million contract for some contracts expiring this year, than we can resign Artest with no problem.

I still don't get why we are being so freaking loyal to Tracy.

If it's Artest for Miller, does that really help the team much this year? I mean, Miller is a fine player who has size and can shoot the ball and would fit in, but he has struggled a bit this year and is not a good defender. We would lose defense and fire in Artest and gain shooting. I would rather keep Artest and roll the dice on this season with him than go after Miller.

Brooks is the deal breaker for Stoudamire. Amare's selfishness and ego does concern me pairing him up with Yao and is questionable as to if he will be able to fit on the team. If he's willing to comply and fits, we would be deadly but our backcourt depth would take a severe hit and probably won't survive in the playoffs. I would have to think long and hard if it was Artest, Landry, and Head for Amare.

As for Carter, I'm not sure what it would take to net him but his lack of defense and contract are legitimate risks.

Finally, this whole trade speculation fiasco eventually leads to everyone favorite subject, McGrady. We are all confused as to what is going on with him and his knee situation but and it makes any potential deal that much harder to generate and accept. If McGrady is done for the season, I wouldn't trade for Amare as it would leave a gaping hole in the backcourt.

Everything's on you Mac. We need to know the truth and need a decision quick on his immediate future as to his role on this team to move on with any trade.

    It's on you Mac...............really.

    that is my concern.
If moves are made with the idea that
this will make TMAC happy and he will play better
well . . . that is truly sickening and disturbing

    that being said
Someone mentioned that Mike Miller is not the Mike Miller of old but
good enough . . .well to me. . that ain't good

Mike Miller, Brent Barry, Battier [injured]
    T-mac, Scola, Yao, Brooks, Rafer

Would this be out TOP 8?
QUESTION: Where the hell is the Defense?

It's not a question of loyalty to him, getting expired contracts for Tracy is extremely hard. Why would anyone want to pay an physically and mentally injured guy 21 M/yr till 2010?

    Agreed on everything.

I'd rather trade Battier or Tracy than Artest.

M Miller can play with Tmac for sure, that's all

We will have the best chemistry in this league if everyone in this team kneels down to Tmac

Agree, I would go all out for Stoudamire as well. Would not hesitate in pulling the trigger for a deal to get him. Artest for Miller would be a huge let down, Miller is a shooting specialist, thats it. I would rather see the rockets try and get a guy like Hedo Turkolu for Artest instead of Miller.

Why don't we just give him the Marbury treatment?

Instead of blowing and trading up the players that actually plays.

Trading away players to compliment a guy that (like you said) is physically and mentally injured (and gets paid 21 million) is being loyal.

1.) I wouldnt get rid of anyone just because they dont gel with mac. For all I know, mac could be out for the season or 2. I never trust a guy that is as superficial, diva and weak-willed like him anyway. So no way on earth, I'm getting rid of Artest for that reason.

2.) This point is a huge concern for me too. But the question is do you believe enough in the Yao-Artest combo against all the options there are at the moment. Sure I dont like the way he takes bad shots. But this is exactly the time we need him more. He is the only hope we have outside of Yao (esp when you factor in mac's status). Scola, Brooks and wafer will come and go but we need some proven players in the post-season. I'm not saying Artest is a proven guy but he is as close as any we have. Maybe just maybe, its worth the risk.

Like I said, lets not do anything that will come back to haunt us. I dont see any short term solutions here. If Miller is a good long term addition than I suppose thats a return. I'm sitting right on the fence.

Who's to say that McGrady will actually play anywhere close to his capabilities anytime this season? We're still confused on as to how he is going to go about with that cursed knee of his. Miller wouldn't do much if Mac has microfracture surgery. If McGrady's issue is motivational and just is unhappy with Artest, and his play would improve if we get Miller, then it's all good. But that's another "if".
