There has been speculation that a big change would be coming in the form of a trade involving forward Amaré Stoudemire. Chicago, Houston and Cleveland have been considered the likely trading partners, but a deal with Portland for guard Jerryd Bayless, a first-round draft pick and Raef LaFrentz's expiring, insurance-protected contract has been considered.

If Rockets trade for Amar,e then they'd have to give up Artest.

    No other way.

    I don't if that's too good.

Exactly! Our rotation at 4 is not perfect but very serviceable, but our PG position really needs an upgrade. A taller player who can shot and pass the ball to Yao is what we need at the PG.

wtf is up with hte hinrich love.. last i checked he got a huge contract and hasnt performed up to par since.. not athletic.. not fast.. shooting poorly.. doesnt play good d.. i say no thanks..

amare is overrated and plays no D.. but he is better than scola or landry.. but i dont think PF is our problem now. .so i agree with most. i dont see the value of the trade.. the problem we need is a atletic wing.. that use to be Tmac .

Well, at least it shows that we are in the runnings for Amare.

I love to see AS here no matter whether he is a perfect fit for the system. He is an all-star. We can use him as a trade asset in the offseason if we can get someone really helpful for this team.

If we don't ship out artest by the 19th, then he will be gone right after the season and be on his way to LA. We mine as well get something valuable for Artest, and the best thing available? Amare. No doubt, dont give me this crap about heinrich (who yall will realize he is less valuable to us than Rafer).

The trade would be the following, Amare for Artest, Brooks, and Landry.

First off Amare is a PF, and that is a HUGE upgrade from landry to amare. Landry isn't as valuable as he was last season, and I think he is worse on the defensive end than Amare. We also would have Scola coming off the bench for Yao and Amare meaning Scola's minutes aren't necessarily going to diminish, they are just going to be not starting. I think Scola will accept the role because he won't see any change except for not starting.

Brooks is the biggest loss in my opinion, because now we dont have backup PG. Barry will have increasing minutes to run the point, but if you think about it, even when AB is in, he doesn't even bring hte ball up half the time. His quickness and 3 pointers are valuable, but he is a defensive liability.

Artest (read above, he will be gone anyway) but that talk aside, he is a sporadic scorer and really has no role or identity with this team.

The Amare trade would give us the best front court in the game, and also would make Yao so much more valuable. Why? His minutes will be limited. Yao plays best when he has energy (obviously) so instead of getting 23 solid minutes of yao and 12 minutes of him sucking on defense and missing shots on offense, we get 28-30 solid minutes of yao (due to rest and not playing as much obviously). We also will not get killed on the boards like we have been. We need ATHLETICISM, and Amare brings that.

Athleticism is the main thing that brings this team down, T Mac isn't what he was with his knee, batter ... just no, Scola couldn't jump over a can of vegetables and Yao, athletic for his size, is not athletic compared to other NBA players. Amare immediately upgrades our Athleticism.

So anyone against this trade, you might wanna think about it and revaluate the trade. You might say, well the chem. won't be good with our starters, a majority of hte game, you won't see Yao and Amare on the court at the same time.

I know! People on here love Hinrich for some reason. He's not that special.

Hinrich is a viable trade asset for Chicago so you know they have to be listening to offers.

Hinrich is a better shooter than Rafer.

Hinrich is not a max player so he is affordable.

I think because of those reasons, that's why Hinrich's name keeps coming up.

But I'm not 100% sure Hinrich is an obvious upgrade over Rafer esp given that Hinrich's contract is much bigger. Would we see twice the production from Hinrich that we get from Rafer?

All that said, if we could get Hinrich + filler for TMac and then resign Artest, I'd totally do that. I'd do about any trade right now where we got a legit starter in return for TMac and could resign Artest.
