I noticed that my interest in the all star game is reaching a new low. years ago I sort of liked the all star game. But the last couple of years i just find it boring. just do not like that it is not a competetive game, there is no D and nobody cares who wins the game (maybe the last 2 minutes, some people start caring). I was wondering if I'm the only one who feels this way this, or if others agree. I So are you going to watch the all star game.
I would if I could, but I'm busy when it's on TV. Things that are taking my interest away from the All-Star game include the low level of competitive intensity as you mentioned. Plus there's no one real person that is really going to interest me in this year's all star game. However I am really really interested this year in the Rookie-Sophomore game primarily cause two of our players are in the Sophomore Roster. I think this game should be pretty interesting, the rookie class is looking great and have a decent chance to take the title this year.
The game is garbage. Alley oop Fails. Big men dribbling Fails. No look pass Fails. I'll watch the rookie sophomore game and that's about it.
I never watch the game, just the dunk contest and 3-point shootout. This year I'll also try to check out the game of H-O-R-S-E. The NBA All-Star game and the NFL's Pro Bowl are worth zero. MLB's All-Star game is more interesting to me and I like football and basketball better than baseball.
I usually do watch at least some of it, but this year I'm not interested. Yao never does well in those type of games, so there's really no one for me to root for.
i agree with all of the complaints made by the OP. instead of showing off the greatest players unleashed abilities, it's just a sloppy, uncompetitive game.
Nth the sloppy, uncompetitive game notion. The All-Star Game has been a joke for quite some time now. Hell, even the rookies vs sophomores is a joke - although you can understand it a little more since they're barely 1 and 2 years into the league. I'll be watching the dunk contest though and possibly the 3pt shootout.
The NBA All-Star game is the best All-Star game out of every sport. It doesn't matter who wins. Fans want to see entertainment. So there's not much defense. Who cares? If people wanted to see defense, guys like Bruce Bowen and Shane Battier would have been all-stars. Plus, you don't want guys playing really hard and getting injured in this type of game. Its about having fun. I don't understand why are yall are complaining. Would you really want Yao Ming to go hard in a game that doesn't mean anything to our season? Injuries already happen often enough, you don't need guys to get hurt during a weekend where its fun and games. If you to see competitive ball, wait for the regular season games that count and just wait until the playoffs. The All-Star game is the one time where people don't have to worry about wins and loses and just come to see the spectacle that is an All-Star game.
the last 2 years i have not been that much into it. i watched both years but its getting boring...run down the court, dunk. run down the other way, dunk, and it goes back and forth like this for about 2 hours. its cool yao made the team but he's not built to be in all star games. he is the best center in the game imo but he's not flashy, and thats what the all star games are about. its hard for coaches to put him in the game because he cant keep up on all the plays and its boring for him to just post up...ill watch the game cuz i love basketball but im sure its gonna be the exact same stuff. im more interested in the dunk contest, 3 point, skills, and horse
well i generally agree. But this year the all star game could turn into a kobe-lebron duel, which can be very gd drama.
I'll be watching. Will be watching to see how Stoudemire and Yao look together on the floor, as someone mentioned earlier. Prediction: East wins again, LeBron is MVP again. (Or if West wins, Kobe is MVP)
