OK, I can respect that. But that is preciously one of the reasons why he won't (and should not) accept 3 year deals.

yao is the most heavily and most frequently doubled player in the league. enough said. this alone answers a lot of silly questions.

Because you can build a TEAM around him. Offense. Defense. And that gives you what is known as a FRANCHISE.

    1: Watch more games
2: It takes 5 to win, that is why it is a team sport. None of the other players you mentioned won anything on their own

I don't know if he will be willing to take a pay cut in order to have a better chance to get more talent around him but the bottom line is how we will play as a team. I wouldn't completely rule out the chance of him taking a pay cut if we start to turn things around in order to get over the hump.

Because of different upbringing, Yao doesn't have that mentality. However, mentality can be changed or learned. So either give him a break, or make him hang out with Ron and Rafer all the time until he thinks hood is cool then watch out league.

It is stupid to pay that money to a role player like Yao.

Doesn't China already take a percentage of his contract?

holy ****, some of you are so r****ded, it might be a crime for me to make fun of you. Some of you say that Yao should take a pay cut so the team can be a contender. How many of you would take a pay cut so your company can give it to someone else and make more money?

Don't put other people to standards you can never dream of achieving. When you become the top 5 in the entire world at what you do, then feel welcome tell other people where to work and how much they can make.

Did some ppl said Yao should get 9M a year after his rookie contract?

Yao will get max, either from Houston, or somewhere else. Yao may take a pay cut, but from 130M to 50M?

I agree he is definitely overrated and the best thing for the future of our team is to let him go and head in another direction with this team.

Just compare to what Tmac get and how did he make a team better. His walking away with nearly 20million per year without doing anything or even worse. You wanna cut Yao's sallary? Is that fair?

Kevin Garnett was the MVP of the league at age 27. We're talking about giving Yao a max deal at age 30. If he doesn't lead us past the first round this year or next year, does he deserve a max deal? Is it reasonable to expect a 7'6 center with a history of foot and leg problems to sustain a high level of play into his 30s?

Rockets will not be the only team to offer Yao Ming the max, because he is good and more importantly, he is Chinese.
