The Mavs and the Blazzers lost today. Hornets and Spurs lost last night The Rockets gained ground without even playing. That's something to be happy about right?
Yup I was just about to post the same thing. Even with all we have been through we are in 5th place in the West heading into All-star break.
Fool's gold unless we can get together and start winning a lot more games. Not an easy task by any means.
stupid spurs up by 6 with 2 minutes left and we lose at least la lost so it dosent really matter sorta goodluck houston
The Rockets have played: - 1 more game than Portland - 3 more games than New Orleans - 1 more game than Dallas - 2 more games than Phoenix We could end up lower in the standings if other teams win their games and catch up to Houston in the number of games played.
The loss column is the important thign to look at. The Rockets have 1 more loss than Portland and New Orleans and since we played 1 more game than Portland and 3 more games than New Orleans, they have more chances to lose games which would be beneficial to the Rockets. We have the advantage on Dallas and especially Phoenix because Dallas has 1 more chance to lose while Phoenix has 2 more chances to lose and they already are 2 games behind Houston.
I'm not worried. I'm confident we can string together a respectable winning streak in the final 1/3 of the season so bring it on!
We need Phoenix to go south ASAP. Given that there's something like 11 games separating the 9-10 seeds, by Phoenix losing it essentially assures us a playoff spot. That's really all I care about. That and avoiding the Lakers or Spurs in the first round. I usually believe in the "Don't worry about who we play!" philosophy but not this year, not with this team.
There just should be at least a drama right? A good team not going into the playoffs from the west. But to be honest, I'll take 32-21 for the 5th seed everyday considering our performance hasn't even seen its full potential yet. Lets have a strong 2nd half season to at least claim 4th spot for the HCA. We've been worrying on the road lately
The killer part about all this is where we could be. The last 5 losses: Milwaukee Memphis Philadelphia New York Indiana If we had gone 4-1 or even 3-2 we would be solidly in 4th place or tied in 3rd with Denver at 34-17. If we had won all 5 we would be tied with San Antonio for the 2nd best record in the west. If, If, If. We just need to put a couple of streaks together.
Above The Hornets, who seemed to be every "experts" sexy pick for the best team in the West not named The Lakers before the season began.
This is good to notice. It's odd that we have gained ground because of other teams losing. I don't know if we want a high seed at this point. I like our chances matching up with Portland or Denver. Just say no to the Jazz. Please. If we play them and lose again, I will hate the entire state of Utah that much more. I already refuse to visit.
I like the Hornets and I love Chris Paul's game but they are way over-rated...they had a great season last year and went from being a medocre team with potential to a play off contender, now everyone is picking them as a favorite to win the west...they have the best PG in the game, a strong player in david west, sharp 3pt shooter in peja, a good rebounding center in chandler, and a few good role players...that's good enough to be a playoff contender again but no way are they deep enough to be competing with the best teams in the NBA. Regardless of MRI results, bring tmac back into the lineup after the allstar break will be disaster...it will lead to more shakiness, back and forth, uncertaintly, drama, at best he can bring 1-2 good games and will stink the rest of the time...we need to build chemistry and go on a run now without him, this team can make it to the 3rd or 4th seed without him, and only until he is 100% healed and ready to play at his normal level should he be brought back in...and i dont want to hear anymore of this talk from him that he is going to be feirce and we will be sorry for doubting him, he needs to just not say anything and come out and play when he is ready, I would not insert him in the lineup until late March or so...that is if he is healthy, he is a cancer to this team until than...and that's just the truth to it...but all in all, we have a great record for playing soo poorly and there is no need to talk about our season being over or rebuilding for the future (tmac or no tmac), ppl who say that are silly...
What's done is done man, just have to hope that the team hits its stride in the 2nd half. I think a lot will depend on whether this team can remember to defend like it did in the past couple of seasons. Outside of all the injuries, the D has been my biggest concern. Still all things considered the team is in a solid spot and still can have a massive upside.
