i think he is trying to sabotage the rockets efforts. maybe sabotage a trade, but definitely limit the moves the rockets can make. the rockets cannot trade him due to his image around the league and his diminished abilities. throw in his fat contract, and he is going nowhere. and the rockets cannot sit him, because he is adamant that he is truly injured. THAT is the worst thing about this deal. the PR aspect is terrible. the more he whines and complains of pain and lack of lift, etc, he is making it almost impossible for the rockets to deal with him. they cannot send him away, and they cannot sit him. this is what makes him such a b*tch, he misses a dunk, gets laughed at on sportcenter, and now is absolute that he is injured. if he is truly that hurt, he needs to retire. the thing is, he could really help the team, if he took a diminished role. like someone else mentioned, like grant hill. no more running the offense through him, and no more iso. but, he will never do this, due to his ego. all in all, this is all tmac's doing. the team is disheartend, and playing poorly because tmac cannot make a decision. he plays with no heart and no enthusiasm and still want to be the star? how would you like to play with that?
I kinda agree with you about Yao, but when you say 3-5 good yrs, how good? That's a question they need to answer before they extend him a contract. If they slope stays the same and we see the decline, if you tie a max deal up for 5 yrs after he's a free agent, the team will be doomed. If your honest with your team assessment, then Scola can't be the pf next to Yao in the future.
You ever play sports with 'THOSE' guys who when they drop the football, the come up limping? Or if they miss the baseball, they start shaking their wrist or holding their back or something? Or those guys ho miss dunks and go for 1-9 and then CALL FREAKING PRESS CONFERENCES?? Tmac is a good guy - he's just not one of those guys with any mental toughness. At this stage in his career, and with his body breaking down, he needs that mental toughness and his lack of it is getting exposed, causing further mental unrest with Tracy. Tracy needs 20-7-6 to FEEL like a man. We all have that though in some area of our life where we have SOMETHING that makes us feel strong and confident. Tracy's identity is based solely on being a huge star. But that's the drawback to being a star - - EVERY star burns out...and that's why we live vicariously through them. We enjoy them and then we move on to other players who we enjoy. I LOVED Hakeem...but I do not want to watch him play now in the NBA because of his age, etc...I want to watch someone else. His star faded but Dream's mental toughness was based on faith, hard work, repetition, being a leader, owning businesses, being shrewd in real estate - Dream had another side to who he was as a person. His identity was NOT based on being a superstar player - Tracy's other side in now firmly entrenched in the doctor's office. And when that star fades, it's a tough tough pill if that's all you are.
I don't think you could have made it any clearer. thanks. Man how we could use another star as bright as hakeem was at his peak.
Anyone else find it funny that less than 10% of the people think TMac is telling the truth? Tmac = Peter crying wolf. It makes you laugh, because, well.. to keep from crying... DD
That would be the worst case scenario in my mind .... Maybe second worse ... the worst would be that he plays and we don't make the playoffs.
I think Mcgrady is telling the truth...or atleast what he believes to be the truth. In this world it's rare for people to do things with out incentive. What is Mcgrady's incentive to lie? Coming into this season, this was his Paul Pierce/KG year. He was going to redeem himself and rewrite his legacy as a player. Why would he intentionally screw that up? In addition, his contract comes up next year. I agree that his two biggest faults of his career have always been being weak and lazy but I don't see his incentive for screwing this up.
Was he telling the truth the day before when he said it wasn't the knee, it was just that he was afraid of jumping off of it ? Or, was he telling the truth the next day when it was suddenly the knee? DD
If anything, he was lying about the things he said earlier, I find it hard to believe that he hadn't jumped off his knee but those statements sound a heck of alot better than 'I just blew a dunk because i'm a frail weak man'. Since he's pretty much known as a wuss around the league he doesn't know what to do when he is (or thinks he is) hurt. Sit out and be the laughing stock of the league again or play terribly.
Clearly Tracy is selfish. Lets suppose he is playing bone on bone. Instead of trying to prove he is a soldier he should let someone healthier play for the team sakes. Now that's unselfishness. Tracy plays like he has nothing else to prove when he does. The money he's making is good enough for him as it seems. For that he deserves no credit for his selfishness.
And don't forget how after he leaves the team for TWO WEEKS. . . TO REHAB!. . . . he gives a warning to all his haters that "TMAC is Back." He and his trainer are talking him up. . . . . Tracy & Trainer - "Oh wow, you won't believe the Tracy you are about to see, he's going to be postering everybody, he is right back where he was 4 years ago. Ya'll are all going to LOVE Tracy now!!" He was about as arrogant and artificially inflated as he could possibly be. Then he comes out and looks like $hit, fans and teammates are ripping on him and he is once again forced to eat his words. However, instead of saying I suck and I will get better he decides to go and throw the only semblance of a defense that he can muster by going and getting another check up with a doctor who repeats what every other doctor has told him! BACKFIRE!!!! "Oops, but I still have to spin this some how in my defense," Tracy thinks. Here's my best shot. . . All guns blasting. . . . Tracy - "Wait guys I'm really injured! All that stuff I said before about being in excellent shape and having my trainer back me up and being ready to go. . . . forget all that! That was all wrong! I am really injured and this isn't more bull$hit! This is the truth and for all of you out there who don't believe me, you can kiss my ass! Now I need micro-fracture knee surgery. So what if the doctors tell me I don't and every doctor I go to tells me the SAME THING! I can't play! And FUC# ALL YOU GUYS FOR NOT BELIEVING ME!! That goes for you Rafer, Ron, Von, Yao, Rick and all you Motha Fuc%in' fans out there!!! I'm OUT!!" Fans and Teammates - "Oh Tracy, you're right. We didn't realize that you were a parapalegic! (snicker) Do you want me to give you a noonie and a warm blanket! We will forget that you are sucking up our salary cap with your $21 million dollar contract and you suck on the court and act like a b****! You are injured, how INSENSITIVE of us to judge you. (cough) f*****! We're sorry you're hurting, why don't you take a load off and rest your knees and while you're down there. . . . ." You get the picture. That's why everyone on this team looks at Tracy like the b**** that he is! Cause he is just that an oversensitive, egotistical, hyper-prideful b****! No one likes people like that. That's why he needs to go!
I think he's lost his 'will'; and 'will' find it when he's traded to the Mavs for Howard/Stack. Just my opinion.
