Based on the limited information we have. No one here (or in the Rockets organization, possibly) knows what's going on. So what do you THINK?

I am guessing based upon his earlier admission to Feigen (Where he sat down for 2 weeks) that he is just embarrassed and wants a way out for now.

It's tmac overload, I think we should just concentrate on how the team is doing and growing.

when I posted that Horry interview that he wanted to play again and how he mentions Sam Cassell is the only reason he would go to Boston, it made me think about Tmac.

Does he have friends that close on the Rockets? That first championship team had great chemistry cause they were all friends, even Maxwell and Dream were pals off the court.

I believe that Tmac is on his own island. When Steve got traded again, Yao was there in that video helping him distribute toys for kids. There's friendship there.

Even when you see Artest laughing at the dunk, you see Wafer laughing with him. My guess is Artest is making friends and bonding with his teammates.

Those Steve/Cuttino teams that, in retrospect, shouldn't have won that many games. but they had team chemistry, friendship and trust. something you don't know about this team and Tmac.

clearly tracy is just pissed at the fans because he's been playing bone on bone like a true soldier and getting no credit for it.

I think he feels some discomfort and doesn't trust the Rockets doctors. He doesn't want this injury to effect his next big contract.

Think of how many times you heard that the injury won't get worse by playing on it and how many times it seems like the player doesn't ever come back quite right.

    Sura
    Battier
    Artest
    Tmac

They didn't find Yao's stress fracture until weeks after it happened. The Rocket's medical staff doesn't have the best track record.

The rockets' "medical staff" isnt the one telling tracy his knee wont get worse. Dr. Andrews, a specialist, is the one telling Tracy his knee wont get worse.

Note that there is a big difference, because Dr. Andrews does a lot of sports medicine and his reputation is at stake when he makes recommendations.

There is no next big contract for Tracy McGrady. If he even cares to play beyond his current deal, no one is going to break the bank on a broken down, perennial loser.

imho, there's not the slightest doubt that he's telling the truth from his perspective. he's clearly hurt. he doesn't have the lift. he has no confidence in his knee. he feels like he's getting better when he's getting rest. but it won't get past the point to where he feels 100 % healthy. and then after some games his knee will start to bother him more again.

that are the points i consider facts.

everything else, all the drama, the uncertainty, the lack of hustle, etc. is just him being t-mac. it probably would be a lot different if someone else was in his situation. but in the end, i don't care. all that counts is that the player is healthy. so, hopefully he gets healthy at some point. imho, shutting it down for at least 6 - 8 weeks is (and allways was) the only thing that can fix this.

I agree with most of this...but I think he is exaggerating like he always does.

I have NO idea whats going on.

But I do know that Tracy needs to get off the bus until SOMEBODY knows what going on and tell us.

(Actually, I think they know, but still trying to figure out how to tell us)

He's 'known' all along that his knee was injured and yet he did not rehab it and doesn't understand why it's not better. Since he didn't rehab it, he must've rested it. But yet, rest didn't work at the beginning of the season. Tracy self-diagnosed his knee (Why can't he self-diagnose his freaking bone-on-bone brain?)

So.....into the season, the knee's not getting better. Instead of rehab, he opts for only playing one game in back to backs (However, that doesn't explain why he played the easy games and 'rested' the hard games but I digress) and wants to try rest. Again, no good. Rest doesn't help it.

Deeper into the season, he again opts for the rest. This time, he knows, it'll only take two weeks of rest to fix it and he'll be back, everyone will know, we'll eat our words, blah, blah, blah...but again, for the umpteenth time, rest has been proven NOT to work with regards to healing the knee.

Now, Dr. McGrady again comes out with a diagnosis of his knee.
It's bad - real bad. I have microfracture problems.
    No, you don't.
    I don't?
No. It's going to be sore from time to time but you can continue on - it will strengthen around it. Playing will not hurt the knee.
But I think I need to end my season...it's my microfracture.
    No, Tracy, it's not.
I need to rest it then - that'll fix it...that'll fix it, I know it will.

Let's look at it like this - rest is not 'healing' his knee. It's hurt. Just like our backs, a\our shoulders, our knees - it's hurt. It hurts. It causes pain. But somehow, you make it through the pain. You rehab or whatever. Tracy's paying for NOT listening to the doctor's and their advice on strengthening his knee.

But Tracy will be BACK FOR THE PLAYOFFS and everyone will worship him...because Tracy's mind is a mental tree branch. **SNAP** He needs love and affection to encourage him to be better than he is. So, the TMAC lovers can love him - the HATERS can hate him and the rest of us can just try and forget him and move on without the drama!!

    REHAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    not rest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!!!

    Post of the year !!

    Doc,

Why won't the organization just move on without him? The team is clearly tired of his act, and plays better and more focused without him.

Wouldn't it be better if the team protected their asset and FORCED him to rehab the knee?

I really don't know, DD. I think this is some kind of power play with Morey, IMHO. And I would bet the farm on Morey to win. He won the Francis play and he'll win this one. But without JVG to DRIVE Tmac - Tmac has no direction. He needs drama to push him to somewhere..anywhere. The fresh starts, the comebacks, the 1st rd. exits, the 'my shoulders', the Orlando, the Vince Carters drama, the wife, the kid situation, the absolute basket case world that IS TMac. I don't know if Tmac could function in quiet and peace.

Someone needs to tell him that it's actually quite comfortable! :)

It is killing the team though, you can just see that there is a problem by looking at their body language when they play with him.

There is a marked difference in effort when he is not on the floor....

DD, I don't think he's an asset to the team anymore. They just need to move on.

Oh, I agree about his play, but his contract is an asset, I am looking at it from a business perspective.....

There is NO DOUBT - - PERIOD - - - NO DOUBT...that when Tmac is NOT playing that THIS Rockets team plays MUCH more loose and free and they move the ball and they laugh and smile and make mistakes WITHOUT feeling shame!
You hit the nail on the head!

I agree about the contract, but having him around is really hurting the team. There not going to win a championship with him. Morey, Les and Adelman are in a tough spot right now. The team will have no chemistry with T-Mac coming back right before the playoffs, they need to move on with the soldiers that are willing to go out and fight for them.
