Then the Rockets allowed Tmac to rehab his knee, and he said it felt good, but who knows how much pressure he was under to come back after the 2 weeks. Granted, he did look better and a little bit more comfortable, but he wasn't the same Tmac we saw even last year. Not even close. If you watched the last few games, with the exception of the dunk on Tyrus Thomas (off his right knee), Tmac was a jump shooter and a passer. He couldn't do much more. His defense improved, but he was still struggling.

Through all of that, people (especially on this board) called Tmac a little cry baby, who doesn't hustle, who can't and won't play through pain, accused him of faking his injuries (which is just wrong on so many levels), and then called him the cancer of the team, even though he had carried us for 3 years here in Houston with little help.

Then, in Milwakee, the missed dunk happened. That should've been a red flag to people everywhere, and I'm sure thats why there was an MRI on his knee today. However, people just say, he's another Steve Francis or Penny Hardaway. Sure, he had declined physically, but I couldn't believe it could be that, if he was healthy, there had to be an injury. Tmac is one of the most athletic players the NBA has ever seen. Those kind of players dont just lose athleticism like that in a matter of months. It takes years.

Now, most of the people who wrongfully called Tmac all kinds of names are feeling pretty bad now. I bet many people wouldn't be able to do their jobs 5 days a week without any cartilidge in their knee. Its tough and painful. For those who have to do that, I feel bad that yall do it and I praise yall. But its a shame that it takes this to make people realize that Tmac was playing through a lot of pain. He is a competitor, he does care about the team, he knows he's 0-7 in the playoffs. He wanted to prove that he can lead a team, and unfortunately he won't get that chance this year.

Now about the medical staff of the Rockets, this is ridiculous. They allowed Yao to play through a lot of pain before they took a bone scan of his foot, and for a guy that big and important, they should be monitoring him much more closely.

Then they basically perform 2 unsuccessful surgeries on Tmac, and an unsuccessful surgery on Battier over the summer. Tmac ends up with an arthritic shoulder which will require another surgery and his knee ends up without any cartilige and may require microfracture surgery.

I know the medical field is very tough and complicated due to the uniqueness of each patient, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. How in the world does Phoenix keep Shaq, a 7'1 350 lb giant who's had a long history of injuries healthy at age 37!!?? while the Rockets can't keep their star players who are relatively young, healthy. I just don't understand it.

I do hope that those who criticized Tmac for not playing through pain or being a wimp or not giving effort do apologize and realize that these guys, although they make much money, do kill their bodies for fans and the team. If you want to be angry about players making so much money, stop going to the games, stop watching the games, stop buying their merchandise, tell the mayor to get rid of the team, because we as fans are their main source of income. If I got offered millions of dollars to play a game that I love, then I'll accept that in a heartbeat and so would all of you, so don't blame yall criticism on the 22 million dollars Tmac makes. Just admit that yall were wrong and that TMac is actually a lot tougher than most people thought he was.

How does something like missing cartilage develop? Was because of his training regimen during those 2 weeks off? Could this have happened because he actually overexerted himself?

If that's the case, I think we just have to accept that McGrady wasn't cut out to be a professional athlete for 10+ years.

what JCF posted that? I trust him to know more about whats going on....something definitely isnt right around here at all. and I think it has to all do with tmac's and his head...cartilidge or no cartilidge he is not conducting himself in a manner that a pro athlete should

seriously, are we cursed? with tmac out for the rest of season, we are going nowhere. wafer might solve some regular season problems but is an uncertainty in playoffs. hope we can turn this around.

This is not fair, he doesent deserve this he doesent deserve any of this, kobe had a great career INJURY free, Tmac really unleashed his potential because of his bodies edurance. He probably could've been the best ever, he carried us for years waiting for yao to develop and finally healthy, yet now its to late. If he does come back fully healthy and plays at a high level again its a miracle. If not, we witnessed a legend (before this year) in houston and I appreciate what he's done for this team.

I hope this lays down all the criticism to rest.

And maybe I'm expecting to much of the BBS IQ, but to say McGrady has "no cartilage" in his left knee or that he has "no meniscus" is absolutely idiotic. I'd assume he lost his ACL, PCL, LCL, and MCL as well?

Rockets guard Tracy McGrady has been ruled out of tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings because of on-going problems with his left knee.

McGrady underwent an MRI examination that revealed no knee injury or other changes since previous tests and diagnoses, the Rockets announced Wednesday. The Rockets said holding him out of tonight's game was a "precautionary measure."

McGrady has missed 16 games this season while trying to rehabilitate his knee after last May’s surgery. He played in seven of eight games since returning from two weeks of conditioning, missing one with a sprained ankle. He made 1 of 9 shots Monday in the loss in Milwaukee.

McGrady is averaging 15.6 points per game, making a career-low 38.8 percent of his shots.
