wow, some posters never seem to amaze me. why don't we just deal with reality and instead sensationalize things?

there's a reason he's been taking 2 weeks off, comes back, plays well for 5-6 games, and plays bad again. his knee just isn't right. why is it so hard to deal with that fact?

i think you are taking it too far with this.

i certainly think a part of this is "management" of the tracy problem. but i also think that there is a legitimate root for it all.

its possible tracy picked this moment to announce it because he realized he was just going to embarass himself further by continuing to play on it.

regardless, his conduct this season is still inexcusable, and i think even if he werent suspiciously and suddenly injured, the rockets would have found a way to shelf him for the good of both parties.

I'm reacting to what the news is right now. Stop trying to predict the future. RIGHT NOW, the reports are saying that he might need microfracture surgery because he has missing cartridge. You posted this thread right now by thinking it's a conspiracy theory and he won't have surgery and it's all just a cover up because he sucks. You're making up your own story at the moment and ignoring the official reports. If his treatment is rest and not surgery, it doesn't change the fact that as of this moment, the reports say he's out for the year and will require surgery. I'm reacting to that. Not some made up bull $%^* by a random person on this board.

If they look at it further and say that he won't need the surgery and he doesn't have missing cartridge, please by all means bring this thread up and bash me because I couldn't predict the future oh great Nostradamus.

Yall seen the rockets play witout T-NAG.... we have a squad. ol boi WAfer steps it up wen he gets a chance. Dont worry. By the looks of it.. we are better witout him. I just hope we can pull a trade off for him, not like anybody wants him to play for them, they just want his contract!

This is interesting to say the least. The one thing I don't understand is how can doctors who have been examining the knee since the season started (more then 1 doctor) did not detect the missing cartilage.

Then all of a sudden they come and say he might need microfracture surgery. It just doesn't make sense that they could go from...There is nothing wrong with the knee, he will have to play on it and strengthen to ... McGrady may be out for the season and may need microfracture knee surgery.

Going from nothing wrong with the knee to microfracture surgery makes no sense to me.

As someone that suspected a sham injury to shelve McGrady for the year before this news broke....I don't think it's the case.

Teams do pull serious BS with sham season ending "injuries" all the time. Look at the Bucks and Heat last year. Sometimes, it's shameless. The Rockets lied during the 2nd championship run when they sent Vernon Maxwell home. Teams lie half the time when a coach "resigns."

But James Andrews would not be involved if this was phony. A bare spot on his knee wouldn't be the fake diagnosis - they'd blame it on his somewhat arthritic shoulder or something.

All that said, I simply can not buy that this condition was present and missed in May and Nov (including by Andrews). I can not buy that this has been present while McGrady himself has been saying his issues have been trusting the knee and a lack of lift. He'd in the least be experiencing signifcant swelling postgame, and almost certainly be complaining of acute pain. Maybe this has been going on but behind closed doors. Maybe this is an extremely recent development involving a small (penny-sized) spot in the back of his knee.

We'll have to wait and see.

Well, now that it has been revealed that the knee is fine I guess this thread is dead. I did, however, go back and look at the Channel 2 link and it appears Andrews had not looked at the MRI in question at the time the story was written. It looks a bit like his quotes were cherry picked in order to push the microfracture idea.

I agree he would not be involved with this knowingly but remember his quotes were cherry picked earlier this season so that people reading would believe he recommended McGrady to take the two weeks off when he never said that.
