unfortunately this is just a rumor. i dont think the Nets are "very interested" in Artest like the title states. ive heard there keeping Carter this season.
That would give us a really big boost in athleticism and size! As for Tracy and Vince... "Reunited and it feels so.... Good???"
I'm sure Net's top priority is cutting payroll given the current economy and their desire to move to Brooklyn. With that in mind they almost certainly are targeting a package around an expiring contract and a pick/young talent. The only problem is that the entire NBA is feeling the pinch of the economy and only a handfull of markets are able to support Vince Carter, larger markets can take on the contract of Vince Carter because he'll draw enough fans to generate revenue. I'm almost certain New Jersey is most interested in a package consisting of Raef LaFrentz, Nicolas Batum/Travis Outlaw and a pick. LaFrentz's will actually pay the Net's via insurance. Unfortunately for the Nets, the Blazer's are trying to keep their players young so they can develop together. Anyone over 30 seems to be too old to play in Portland. That leaves the following packages for the Nets: 1) A package built around Wally Szczerbiak, Sasha Pavlovic and a pick 2) A package built around Bruce Bowen, Roger Mason, and a pick (Kurt Thomas is almost certainly a salary throw in) 3) A package built around Ron Artest, Barry/Head, and a pick/Carl Landry. I think the Rocket's have the most legitimate offer on the table. Jersey doesn't have to be terribly "interested" in Ron Artest. I think the Net's want to move some salary and be prepared for 2010. Right now, the best offer on the table is from us... unless Portland's Amare run is over and they feel they can take on Vince Carter's salary at his current age.
another thing that puts us on top is that carter (theres a possibility) might put pressure on the nets to trade him to houston, if he goes public in saying he wants to go to houston then san antonio might back off a little bit. and with artest the nets still might have a chance to make the playoffs...harris artest yi might get it done in the east..
I completely forgot about Miami, although I haven't read anything saying they're interested in Carter. If they wanted, Miami could easily trade Marion and Dorell Wright/Pick for Carter.
I think the Cavs are offering JJ Hickson, whom a lot of teams are intrigued by. Still I think our offer is decent enough to get it done.
Ummm, we have to do this trade, with tracy possibly being out the rest of the season we really need a guy like vince, soooo get er done morey
Artest will be that guy. He's fine as a number 2 option. What they need to do is try and move for a PG upgrade, another backup swingman, or a PF/C that is long and athletic. Trade pieces include alston, battier, brooks, one of scolandry, wafer and hayes plus trade exceptions.
New Jersey not interested in Artest Don't know if this was posted before, if so delete. NJ isn't interested in Artest anymore, or they aren't interested in a Artest for Carter swap. http://www.hoopsvibe.com/nba/nba-articles/decisions-from-the-swamp-ar50087.html
Vince's stock is high? Is Rod Thorn delusional? I promise you at some point within the next year Vince is going to get dealt for a package centered around expiring contracts. If not, I guess 2010 and the 'LeBron Sweepstakes' really aren't that important to him after all.
NO WAY,we need Ron, He is full of energy in defense and offense sides. We don't need to trade him ,we can just wait for the contact expired if we have to.
I think another factor in the rumor was that Artest and McGrady suppossedly were "not getting along." I wouldn't buy much into that, since ESPN also said Yao demanded to management that TMac be traded.
