It's my understanding that the Rockets let the December deadline for new uniform submission pass and will stay in the beautiful striped pajamas for at least one more year. The main reason being they want to hold out for the next arena vote. Their reasoning is if they don't get the new arena and aren't going to stick around why change uniforms for just one or two more seasons in Houston? Old School ------------------ Just Build It!
They can make it their ad campaign: New Arena, New Uniforms. Or, if it gets bitter and we don't give them a stadium, they can use those ugly uniforms to punish Houston as they play out the string here. ------------------
If that's not incentive enuff to get a stadium, I dont know what is!! Vote Yes ... for new uniforms. OH! a stadium would be nice too. ------------------ And with the number one pick in the draft, the Rockets select ... Khalid Al Amin?
Well, Stevie3 is aka bballfanatic of the past. Why does it take so long to change the uniforms I will never understand. That is ridiculous. I can understand them not wanting to change it before another referendum (drat that word) but they are so ugly. It would psychologically help the team next season to make the playoffs and go farther into the playoffs. It would give the players something extra to be excited about in the new era of Rockets basketball. Man, it shouldn't be such a big deal! Hey, they can't make an uglier uniform can they? ------------------
Actually there is as much flak from the players over the manufacturer's (Puma,I think) as there is from the design. They changed the manufacturer this past summer. Seems the Puma uni's are ill-fitting (short and difficult to keep tucked during play, wholesale alterations have been made) and the material has caused irritation (at the body's pressure points) with several players. My bet is they keep the same uni's until the manufactiurer's agreement expires. I believe that is in 2001. Then, dump the manufacturer and (some, not all of) the basic design versions all at once. Incidently, the new desiggns that are being discussed are a couple of designs that are only "slightly" different to the present array. Not a geat departure from present. The logo will be the most significant change, with a "less cartoonish" rocket and a more "explosive", and "tech-oriented motif". Whatever that means. ------------------
<H3>THEY WILL GET A NEW ARENA!!!!!</H3> And they better get a new uniform design, I dont like those striped pajamas. ------------------ ~John~ Hi, my name is John and I'm a clutchaholic. Houston NHL
Haven't they already designed new uni's for the year after next? ------------------ The lottery sucks!
I hear the stripes will be gone but the style of the lettering will be kept. Old School ------------------ Just Build It!
Dear Clutch City: This uniform change is a bad deal for the city, a bad deal for the taxpayers. Houston - vote no on the uniform change, even if it means losing basketball in Houston. sincerely, Gary Polland ------------------
I can't believe you guys.......I love their uniform. I think it's the best in the league. Oh ok lets bring back the old uniforms then!!!! They sucked!!!!!!! The uniforms they have rule, face it we could have Clippers Jerseys!!!!!!!!!! ------------------ Houston.....we have a problem!!!! Thomas Hamilton seems to be eating the Compaq Center......WE NEED A NEW ARENA GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!
Whenever someone complains about our old jerseys I always say, "No one ever complained about the Bulls' jerseys, and there is little difference between our old unis and the current Bulls unis." Sure, there could've been improvements. The logo definitely needed an update, but the old red and gold was just fine. Change the lettering, change the logo, but just bring back the RED & GOLD! ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
The Celtics were and still might be like the old ones. If we cant have the old ones back I like this one: <IMG src="http://www.clutchcity.net/extra/francis25_redjersey.jpg" From The Clutch Extra Archive: <small>CC.net Exclusive: Uniform change in the works Posted: February 04, 2000 06:27 PM clutchcity.net was contacted by an excellent source close to the team today saying the Rockets' uniforms are currently under review and we may see a change in some capacity to the Jetsons pajamas as early as next season, but the season after is a more safe bet. Speculation is it will be the "logo the way it is now without the ball and rocket" and will be "more traditional". The Raptors jersey is said to be the one most are currently talking about as a model. Those of you saying the Rockets should lose the pinstripes? You'll probably get your wish as the pinstripes are said to be gone and there is "one person who's pushing for solid red uniforms" (way to go Dave Cebrero!). Best bet at the moment though is white. It is still early as everything is still in the discussion phase, but the uniforms will change.</small> ------------------ ~John~ Hi, my name is John and I'm a clutchaholic.
