If I could have got Peavy with Pence and those two prospects, I'd have pulled the trigger without thinking twice. Peavy and Oswalt is the kind of 1-2 punch that makes a team a contender.

I wonder how exactly they would get this done...

It would bring a great lift to our lots of times stagnant offense (hey just like the ROX) coincidence? Anyway he is a great hitter that we need in our line up.

Does anyone really think he would reject those milti year deals to play for us? Serious question...

Wolf wanted to test the market, probably cause he thought he could get more than the Astros were offering. My question is why didn't they keep an open dialogue, so when he didn't get the amount he was hoping, they could reopen negotiations. Basically, keep your options open.

Same with Wigginton. I thought when they traded for him, they got him because he could provide a long term solution at third. Now we have to hope the tandem of Blum/Boone can tide us over till maybe a prospect can be brought up that will hopefully pan out. We had a pretty sure thing in Ty and let him go...initially for good reason. But again, why didn't the Astros keep the channels open with him, so they could bring him back for cheaper possibly.

I know it's hard tell how the market will look, especially when mediocre pitchers got insane contracts the year before....but it doesn't take a genius to look at the economy and think that clubs will be tightening the purse strings. Besides, what would we have lost had we waitied and still not have signed Ty or Wolf? Hampton and Boone?

Except it would take more than Pence, Paulino, and Norris. It would take draining the system of any semblance of talent. Yes, Oswalt and Peavy would make a great 1-2 punch. What do you have behind them? And if any of those 3 falter, who's behind them?

    I hate this quote:

Translation: We're done and we're not looking at making any more moves. We're standing pat. :(

You do not want Done Dunn. At least I wouldn't if I were you.
