I'am Mexican so I will always root for Mexico. Though theyre not the most talented they have alot of heart. We wont make it far though. I'am excited to see the US team play and hope they dont stink it up like the last world cup. I really, really, like Argentina and Germany. Watchout for Croatia, I really like them too. Brazil is always fun to watch but it can they get it together?
I can't say I am rooting for France, but what do some of the Clutch BBS football experts think of their chances? I was studying in France during the world cup there and when they won it seemed like the whole country levitated.
The World Cup without Holland is just not the same... I cannot believe we didn't qualify... Heck, I think my signature is still related to the Dutch national team. But hey, if you drop 10 out of the 12 points against your two major rivals int he group, then you don't deserve to take part on the world's greatest stage. After moving to Holland following a four year stay in Costa Rica, I thought I'd finally be able to experience a big tournament in my own country since 1992. I came shortly before the match that was to become one of the greatest tragedies in our footballing history. With players such as Kluivert, van Nistelrooy, Cocu, Overmars, Davids, and Seedorf they were still unable to get through the qualifying rounds. How? Mentality? Wrong substitutions? Wrong system? No matter how you look at it or to what extent you try to analyse, you conclude just as baffled as you were to start off with. The inability to make it through was at first taken with shock and sadness... but quickly these feelings grew to annoyance and anger... the country did not understand why the players could all perform wonderfully at club level, but were never really able to bring it all out for Holland. I myself found myself staring at the screen for more than an hour, absolutely shocked, discouraged, close to tears. My family started to worry. When I mentioned the fact that they hadn't qualified to my grandma two weeks after the fact, she wondered why it still bothered me. I guess football was one of the ways in which I could relate to Holland while being away from it. I am also the biggest football fan you'll ever meet. Jennifer Lopez? Eminem? Britney? Incubus? Nah, give me Mijn Feyenoord from Lee Towers or Nederland oh Nederland from Andre Hazes and I'll be just as happy. Which teams will I support now? Well, due to a tiny bit of my family that is from China, I guess I'll support them. I don't look Chinese, nor do I speak it, but hey... I still have respect for their culture. I'll probably find myself supporting Costa Rica, even though I never really enjoyed my stay there. I'd support England, but seeing that some of my fellow football fans are English and gave me a hard time about Holland I just might not. To be honest, the only teams I see winning it are Argentina and France. Outsiders being England, Portugal, Spain... am I forgetting someone? Brazil... erm, hope not. Germany... always tend to perform well, but this time I don't see them doing much of anything. I was thinking of giving some sympathy for once, till I saw a German site specially created to celebate Holland's absence! Specially after the players that have dropped from the picture, and the questionable fitness of some of the players. True talents, other than Ballack, I don't really see in the German team at the moment. At least, compared to some of the guys we see on the Argentinian and French teams. Anyway, once the World Cup preparations start to get heavy, the feelings will all come back. This is truly a dark time for Dutch football. At least Feyenoord is in the UEFA Cup Final... hopefully the Germans won't ruin our party!
Can we say it now? By Bye Man Utd? What's an Uter? I'll be rooting for the U.S. in the WC. After them, England and Germany. Look for France to win it again though.
I'm happy for Leverkusen but I think they have no chance against Real in the finals. They are known as chokers in the Bundesliga - they have come close to winning the league title several times, but always messed it up in the end - this year again. The reason that I think Real will beat Leverkusen is that Leverkusen will be without Ze Roberto, who is absolutely a key player on that team (they will also be without Nowotny, but I don't think very highly of him anyway). If Leverkusen has a chance to win, it will be because of Michael Ballack. He is a very special player. Also, Lucio is great - super fast and plays with a lot of passion. Good thing that both Ze Roberto and Michael Ballack are going to play for Bayern next season. I think Leverkusen is having its best year ever - but next year, it will be all Bayern again - in Germany and in Europe . ........................Kahn ........Kuffour - R. Kovac - Lizarazu Salihamidzic - Deisler - Ballack - Ze Roberto .......................Scholl ...............Elber - Santa Cruz Bench: Sagnol, Fink, Hargreaves, Jeremies, Pizzarro, Jancker, Zickler, Linke, Thiam (all national team players) With Hitzfeld as the coach, nobody will be able to beat that team. Nobody.
4 Hours away from REAL MADRID vs BARCELONA ima major Barca fan were down 0-2 on global goals but i think we could overtake it in there own city...... i beleive theres a possibility the game would be cancelled i heard there was a bomb like 2miles away???
Jackie, are you Bayern fan??? HSV!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think France will win the World Cup! But don't count Argentina out, they are very good, too
Yep, I am a Bayern fan - and I still think Germany has a chance to advance really far in the World Cup - the draw couldn't possibly be much better. Germany cannot get France, Argentina or Brazil before the final, if I am not mistaken. Biggest hurdle would be Italy in the quarterfinals. And if Germany wins that match, anything can happen. Germany is one of those nations who can take a team with mediocre players and still advance really far in a tournament - it happened in 1982 and 1986 when they made it to the finals both times... (by the way, I don't think any other country has managed to reach the finals three times in a row like Germany did from 1982 to 1990). I expect England to not make it out of the first round. That's what they get for their lucky win in Munich .
