There's 3 kinds of fans, a fairweather (bandwagon), a home teamer, and a true sports fan. A true sports fan has its favorite, cheers for them against every other team, hopes they win everytime, but can still be realistic about their chances. A home teamer just cheers for anything with its city written on the uniform at all times. A bandwagon fans cheers for whoever is winning and hates on them when they lose.

That being said, there's some bandwagoners in here, but don't group the basketball fans with them.

Look guys, the OP sort of has a point. Do you want to end up like Phoenix? They made that one trade that was supposed to put them over the top and at the one yr anniversary, they are looking to move $40 million in salary. The only sacred cow on that team in Nash. The only sacred cow on our team will be Yao. I don't want that to be our future. Lets wait until the playoffs and see how this team performs.

Here's the way i see it. That year when JVG was here and the team was healthy, the rockets D was good and consistent. No drama, no excuses, just inconsisten offense. That was the whole problem. One thing. Shots didn't fall, even open looks. That's something that can be cured with practice, change in mentality, etc. It's ONE thing. If that was the problem this year then I think more people would be ok with waiting it out.

BUT, it's not like that this year. There's more than one problem. There's a point guard problem. There is a coaching problem. There is an injury problem. There are chemistry problems. There's defensive problems. There's offensive problems. I just don't see some good practices over a few weeks solving all of that.

There's also the window of opportunity, if this rockets team don't win it this year or next year, then is core never will having already squandered the past 3 seasons due to injuries.

OK, so what makes you think the chips available by the trade deadline will actually be the missing key we need to get the consistency, defense, offense, etc? I would rather give this team one full yr to do something than make a high risk move for Amare or whoever and give that team only half a season to gel and be ready for the playoffs.

I may be wrong, but I cannot think of any other team moving a major piece at the trade deadline and actually making noise in the playoffs.

Portland is not a great team.
They are not in a Win Now mode.
Their average age is probably 5 years younger then us.
Their core stars are probably no older then 24-25, while our stars are approaching 30.
They have gotten out of the first round in the past 10-12 years, while we remain virgins in that time span.
Patience is a virtue, but after over a DECADE of the same result, I think it's understandable at this point in time to be overly critical.

You can't wait until the end of the season to see if you're playing your best basketball. There are real problems with the chemistry on this team ala the Suns. I blame Adelman, he's been tinkering with too many lineups and rotations. I don't know that he has the balls to play Yao plus the role players if they turn out to be the best team. D'Antoni did that with the Knicks when he sat Marbury and Curry, Adelman is too nice to sit Artest and Mcgrady

Horse dung. Where were your Adelman complaints last year when they were winning 22 straight? They were as non-existent as your current logic.

You've conventiently forgotten that Adelman didn't tinker with anything and kept Van Gundy's starting lineup well into January.

C'mon...you can't be serious...sitting Curry and Marbury is equivalent to sitting Artest and Grady? Really? Hell, Isaiah didn't play Marbury...is he a genuis, too?

The problem isn't chemistry. It's called "injury". Or more specifically, the plural "injuries". Why some of you can't understand this is baffling.

Not saying you're wrong in your overall point -- just pointing out a couple of examples of this happening. The Pistons trading Adrian Dantley for Mark Aguirre at the trading deadline of their first championship is one of the biggest. Another example from our neighborhood: Otis Thorpe for Clyde Drexler.

His point isn't about ending up like phoenix at all. His point, which is ill conceived, is that since a team like the blazers lost to Oklahoma somehow compares to the rockets.

Hmm didn't we get punked by those same blazers at the beginning of the season? I guess because the blazers lost to the thunder we should all relax until the playoffs and ignore that the 76ers swept us this year.

You left out "DIE HARD ROCKET FANS"....

These fans are simply the best. If David Stern disbanded the Rockets,
these fans would overthrow the NBA.

The difference between these fans and "true sports fans" (very smug btw) is that they LOVE the Rockets, the team they grew up watching, and they
would shoot someone before they missed a game.

Nah, just having a laugh, but I probably do take the Rockets more seriously than some.

Honestly, the more I think about it, I think it is just the type of personality you are....some are happy just sitting there cheering on the team, others look at the negative things happening and winning is more of a relief.

Just different fan types, but both still fans.

Do you think that Rocket fans are panicking? The Rockets have not been past the first round for 11 years. Portland has been past the first round twice since that time. In fact, Portland has been to the Western Conference finals twice since in that time.

The Rocket fans should not be passive and make excuses anymore.

    I would like to sleep,
In order to better watch the game tomorrow,
I hope that McGrady Do not focus on data,
But do their best to defend,
    If there is no change
    On the transaction

See, it is disrespectful stuff that gets you rookified and sometimes banned.

I hope you learn from this mistake.
