Remember in the seasons past when the Rockets would have a bad shooting night and would somehow pull out a victory? Well, thats what a good defense does for you. Somehow the team has gotten away from that and is paying the price. The blame doesn't lie in one player, it lies on the whole team. I don't that see that hustle and desperation on defense that the Rockets use to play with. Now they seem to focus on the offense more and as a result have lost their true identify which is defense.
Your right, the Rockets used to be one of the best defensive teams in the league, now its unfortunate, or defense is not that good anymore.
1) all perimeter guys are hurt right now (tracy, artest, battier). tracy can't go around screens, battier can't chase guys like he typically can, and artest gambles way too much. 2) no inside shot blocking presence. when deke got in there, you saw a BIG difference as to when yao was in there. nobody is afraid of yao, whereas everyone was afraid of deke. RA must play deke a little bit until our perimeter guys get healthier. deke at least can erase some mistakes. yao can't right now consistently. he either gets a fouled call on him or guys just attack him easily.
We can't defend the pick and roll. We our late on rotations. Can't guard the perimeter. Don't get back on defense. A lot of problems right now.
Among all 423 NBA players who actually made a foul this season, Tmac has the least foul/48mins as 1.5. Is this amazing how good his defense is? Would you please tell Tmac to touch those guys who want to dunk/lay up in front of him? This would be a nice place to begin with our defense. Thanks
so what are you implying? that our season's over? i'm not trying to detract anything you're saying because i definitely agree with you. and it's very distressing that REALISTICALLY we have no shot at the championship this year due to these incorrectable problems. This is probably the best chance the Rox are ever going to get.
So having alot of personal fouls = good defense <object classid="clsid<param name="movie" value="http://soundboard.com/sb/playerskins/singleTrackPlayer.swf?trackURL=http://soundboard.com/mediafiles/ODMyNzI1MDc4ODMyODQx_M4ypa34yzuY.mp3&vol=70&action=stop&title=I disagree" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><embed src="http://soundboard.com/sb/playerskins/singleTrackPlayer.swf?trackURL=http://soundboard.com/mediafiles/ODMyNzI1MDc4ODMyODQx_M4ypa34yzuY.mp3&vol=70&action=stop&title=I disagree" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="350" height="50"></embed></object> or more succinctly <object classid="clsid<param name="movie" value="http://soundboard.com/sb/playerskins/singleTrackPlayer.swf?trackURL=http://soundboard.com/mediafiles/ODg4MjI1MDc4ODg4MzQ0_uWktLGDN7lw.mp3&vol=70&action=stop&title=Whatever" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><embed src="http://soundboard.com/sb/playerskins/singleTrackPlayer.swf?trackURL=http://soundboard.com/mediafiles/ODg4MjI1MDc4ODg4MzQ0_uWktLGDN7lw.mp3&vol=70&action=stop&title=Whatever" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="350" height="50"></embed></object>
Thank you, sir. I consistently prefer JVG to Adelman, no matter how ugly Jeff's offense is, we can hardly let our opponent score more than 100. But now, our opponents scored 100+ are always can be seen, defence, defence, defence. Let Adelman be our trainer, get JVG back.
By all means, let's stack the team with Ryan Bowens....we just need defense...you don't need to score the ball to win. DD
its stating the obvious that there is improvement is needed on both sides. But to shrug off defense as an a big issue, when you let the grizzlies score a 100 plus. In fact we have had 9 straight games where our opponnet has scored 90 plus. 6 of those 9 have been over the century mark.
We will find that we do not lack of defensive When we watched the game two weeks ago Defense is lost in the last two weeks, why
I am not shrugging off anything, defense is a major issue, but if you are not going to play defense then you need to be able to outscore people. And both Offense and defense are a problem IMO......... DD
Dude, you had scoring when Van Gundy was here. Don't give me that crap. Every single player who played for Van Gundy and now plays for Adelman, have had their numbers go DOWN since he got here. Compare the Starters for yourself: 06-07: Alston - 13.3 McGrady - 24.6 Battier - 10.1 Hayes - 5.6 Yao - 25 ppg Total - 78.6 Current: Alston - 11.5 McGrady - 16.0 Battier - 6.7 Scola - 12.2 Yao - 19.8 Total - 66.2
I was just stooping down to your logic, which even you were perplexed with what was ultimately your own statement paraphrased. Take Rome's advice: <object classid="clsid<param name="movie" value="http://soundboard.com/sb/playerskins/singleTrackPlayer.swf?trackURL=http://soundboard.com/mediafiles/MzE2MTI1MDc4MzE2MTM1_J1f3bd_2fsO1k.mp3&vol=70&action=stop&title=Don't be a dolt" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><embed src="http://soundboard.com/sb/playerskins/singleTrackPlayer.swf?trackURL=http://soundboard.com/mediafiles/MzE2MTI1MDc4MzE2MTM1_J1f3bd_2fsO1k.mp3&vol=70&action=stop&title=Don't be a dolt" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="350" height="50"></embed></object>
i think jvg is a better coach for this rocket team, but overall adelman is definitely the better coach
No one says having lots of fouls is playing good defense. What he is saying is that commiting the least amount of fouls shows lack of effort on defense. It's hard to commit fouls when you don't contest shots or layups. Aggressive defenders tend to pick up more fouls, while people who don't defend don't pick up any fouls. It's not that Tmac plays bad defense, he just doesn't try. He plays good lockdown defense....only when he feels like it. Problem is, he never feels like it.
