I'm heading to Atlanta on business next week. I've been there several times, but it's been a while, and I was wondering if any of y'all had new ideas for restaurants and bars to check out. Something a little different and off the beaten path, perhaps? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks!
Was that the Gold Club Pat Ewing was getting his freak on in? Ewww, mental picure Man that thought makes me shutter.
RMT, What types of things interest you? I can give you some suggestions if you can give me a little more info. If you want to email me, feel free - I can give you more in-depth analysis that way. Houston, though, is generally much better for food. This weekend there is a big music fest...if you will be in town that early - there are always festivals, etc. Again, just give me a little more to work with and I can try to help. Behad, I am so rarely needed that I am not always around at the right time.
RMT - Do you only listen to Blues? I have some very good friends in Atlanta. My friends (like myself), are also musicians but are more into a funk/soul/jazz/blues hybrid groove. I was there in January and we went to a small venue and heard Spyro Gyra near Little Five Points. (A cool place... sort of like what Rockefeller's was). One of our favorites bands was an Allman Brothers spin-off called Sea Level (after Chuck Leavel who is now appears with The Stones and Clapton but lives in Georgia). Randall Bramblett was in that band and appears in some smaller venues in Atlanta. They usually keep an eye out for him. I am not aware that Atlanta has much of a Blues scene. Perhaps you can check the weekly entertainment magazine "Creative Loafing". Sorry, I can't help you with the restaraunts. My friends (as I am) are more into health food and not into "Soul Food". But I'm sure it's there for you! Let me know if I can help.
I have only been to ATL once, and we were visiting friends, we didnt go anywhere to eat, we just ate at there house, but we went to 2 Braves games against the Reds, Turner Field is pretty sweet, i suggest you go if you can.
I was just there. The Pink Poney was the recommended strip club... even on Sunday night. It's where the locals go. I never made it out there, but I heard it was hoppin. Buckhead is way out. But there was a lot of activity out there. ESPN Zone and some other stuff are planted out there too. Turner field was boring as hell. The fans aren't into the game at all.
