Artest for stephen jackon if offense is what we really need. Artest for a pg and draft pick would be good too.
Wow Ron and Peja getting traded for each other again. Morey, jst do it for the lulz, Trade the 2 people who got traded for each other 3 years ago.
It seems Ron is a good set shooter but he doesn't like these shots. He likes contested jumpers off his 20-second long dribble. Or he likes to back his man down in the post and then shot over 5 defenders. He's so out of control it's not even funny.
Agreed that Ron is a major problem on both ends of the floor. His D is especially disappointing because he gets beat off the dribble by any decent perimeter player. His selfishness offensively is a killer. I see at least one play a possession where he dismisses somebody who's open at the three. Not only does he stop the ball but he also ruins possessions by not actually shooting when he is WIDE open. How many times have you seen that recently? Given all that, I'm still most disappointed in McGrady. Tonight showed again that he wants to be part of the offense and refuses, flat out REFUSES to let it go. Yao should've gotten the ball IN THE POST possession after possession. We were stopping Memphis finally. Instead, Tracy decides he needs to be involved so he starts getting Yao out on the pick 'n roll. Outside of Rafer going one-on-one, that's still the worst pct play of our offense. Tracy apparently missed the memo that we are now running our offense through Yao. Let me repeat that... Run the Damn offense through Yao!!!!!! When you start shooting better than 39 pct from the field, Tracy, then we might run a play for you. Otherwise... RUN THE OFFENSE THROUGH YAO!!!! I hope Tracy gets injured again and is out for the season. Usually, I'm not for injuries but it's to the point where we need Tracy out of here. Morey, Les, and RA want to beat this dead horse. I know you fans out there can see what's really happening. I'd trade Artest if we can get something legit in return at the wing position. As much as Rafer drives me nuts on the offensive end, we'll need his defense in the playoffs. Unless you want trade Ron for Hinrich's cap eating contract, I doubt you'll find a quality defensive point guard out there that's much better than Rafer on the offensive end. If you guys can come up with one (who's a legit possibility), speak now.
Our defense is atleast above average right now. If we start playing slow skinny white guys on the perimeter we will totally collapse. Yao will foul out in the first half of every game.
Are you refering to Hinrich? Who is a significant defensive upgrade to Rafer? Or my "having fun with it" post about Barry? DD
I like Stephen Jackson but trading him for Artest would be damn near pointless. They basically play the same offensively. Sure Jackson is a better playmaker but that is what T-mac is doing right now.
I hate Jackson, but we need a 2nd penetrating playmaking player to compliment Tmac...right now we are too easy to guard late. DD
so you move artest for hinrich....our perimeter is as follows: PG: Hinrich/Rafer/Brooks SG: Tracy/Wafer/Barry SF: Battier/Tracy that is the softest back court in the league....None of those guys are good rebounders, none of them can really draw fouls or finish inside consistantly. This will put so much pressure on our front line to do everything inside.
Because Scola is getting abused on defense. Artest's shot selection was very poor, but he was a part of that come back in 4th quarter when he no longer took any shots.
Artest is not the problem. Sure he sucked tonight, but thats the whole point of having three legitimate scorers. When one has an off night the others pick up the slack. I would be more worry about the defense than anything else. It's non-existing right now.
And you don't think TMac will still be problem? TMac needs to go also, get what you can for him now. Screw 2010. Play to win now not next season.
Right from the beginning, when everybody thought Artest was the savior, I've been saying that people are grossly overrating Artest's offense. His shot selection is at least as bad as McGrady and he doesn't have T-Mac's passing skill. When his shots are falling, he's a good scorer. But his shooting is extremely inconsistent, much like Rafer Alston's. When his shots aren't falling, he hurts the offense more than he helps.
Jackson can fall in love with that jumper too much. But he is the main guy in Golden St. With his personality I think he would be fine as a 3rd option now that I think about it. Question is would Golden St. make this deal? Either way I doubt it happens.
