Are you a good driver or at least think you are? In almost 13 years of driving, I have been: pulled over like 19 or 20 times gotten an actual speeding ticket 3 times had one accident with another vehicle deemed my fault I have been lucky and fortunate that I haven't had more accidents or tickets, but it has been tough for me to try to change my driving style. I guess you can call me an aggressive driver. But you have to remember that I live in a small town. Traffic is not bad at all. Those who live in Houston, how bad is the traffic and have there been cases of road rage? So, what is your driving record? Are you a good driver or not?
I think I'm a lucky driver... I've had 1 speeding ticket and 1 moving violation for disregarding a red light. This was over 10 years ago. I've been in 2 wrecks, neither of which were my fault. 1 minor wreck on Waugh. 1 wreck on 610 near 290. Totalled my car. Those wreck were over 5 years ago. I've been driving for about 14 years.
driving close to 3 years.. no tickets.. two small accidents which were not my fault.. first one.. i had backed out of my parking space and was changing from reverse to 1st gear (i have a standard) and someone backed out of another parking space into the side of my car. about $1,000 worth of damage.. 2nd one basically did no damage. maybe a scratch or two.. i stopped at the stop sign about to pull out of my high school parking lot.. and the person behind me ran right into the back of my car.. i guess they aren't used to high school kids stopping before pulling out into traffic lol
Been driving for about 7 years... I've only been in one "wreck" and it wasn't even that. Someone just bumped me a little bit from behind--no damage. I've been pulled over twice...once I was driving in a school zone and there was a cop car sitting in the median. At 20 MPH it's easy to spot an expired registration sticker. The second time it was for speeding...doing 80 on I-10 going from Austin to Houston. If it wasn't at night and on a weekday, I'm sure I wouldn't have been pulled over...Seemed like I was the only car out on the road at the time. What really sucks is that it was my first time and I didn't get a warning or anything...but now I know that you are never supposed to admit that you were speeding. Always just say you didn't know how fast you were going. Manny--you sound like you are one of the people I hate on the roads--weaving in and out of traffic...peeling out at a stop light only to come to a screeching halt at the next one 20 yds down. I hate you
In my 15 years of driving I've been pulled over maybe 5 or 6 times, gotten one speeding ticket and been the cause of one accident eight years ago (bumped someone from behind on a rain-slicked stretch of Kirby Dr. in River Oaks). I don't actually like driving that much. Since I began working at home a few years ago, Mr. JB pretty much took over getting us where we need to go. It works out well for both of us since I don't have to be behind the wheel and he gets to control the radio.
My driving record is clean. I'm not an extremely skilled driver, but I don't do stupid things and drive slow (At max-5 miles over speed limit). I use to drive much faster, but now I just relax and listen to a ball game or sports radio.
Twelve years of driving. Been pulled over twice. No actual tickets, ever (except for the occasional university parking ticket). No accidents involving other cars that were my fault. One person ran into me from behind and caused major damage, another caused minor damage. (I'm not counting "bumps" that cause no damage at all; there have been several of those, and some were my fault and some weren't.) I did run into a curb once and cause damage, but that didn't involve another car. I drive about 5-7 over the speed limit, whatever that may be. Slower if it's raining. My husband thinks I'm a crazy driver, but I don't know why. Ride with him and it might be all day before you get there. Maybe it's just because I take corners fast...
well at 20 i've been "driving" for 4 and a half years. but the last two i've been at college w/o a car and early on it was mostly just back and forth to school so its not like i've logged a ton of miles. but i have zero pullovers, zero tickets, zero violations, been involved in zero accidents so i'm a perfect driver. most people think i take corners too quick and on long stretches i tend to get up over the speed limit (as in 10+ over, i drive around 5 over all the time) but only as part of the flow. you never see me weaving in and out blowing by everyone. i came about 3 inches, literally, from a wreck on the way to school when it was raining. i glance a way for a split second, the cars ahead stopped, i slammed on the brakes, and i knew i was going to hit the guy and somehow stopped just short. i didn't actually get out to check, but there is no way the distance b/t our bumpers was over 6 inches, i think it was like 2.
Driving for 16 years. I've had about half a dozen speeding tickets mostly when I was driving back and forth from Austin to Houston. Been in 3 accidnets none of which were my fault. When I was younger and had long hair, I was pulled over AT LEAST 2 or 3 times every week in all different parts of the city. I was pretty much never given a ticket or told why I was pulled over. I had the truck searched on 3 occassions though I didn't drink or do drugs. I was asked pretty much every time if I did drugs or if I was on drugs. Ugh. Wierd stuff.
I've been driving for 9 years... 2 accidents (1 was my fault, the other was not) a couple of minor accidents (hit a curb, pole, dumpster, etc.) ticketed 11 times (1x each year for speeding plus 2x in two different years for the same) pulled over way too many times to count... got away with a warning about 30% of the time, the other times i got tickets... i'm what you would call an aggressive driver... i'm the guy who usually does 90+ in the left lane on all highways, in and out of cities... i know most other drivers hate me for going so fast, but thats ok b/c i hate them for driving the speed limit in the left lane (or only doing 10 over! as ludacris says... move b****, get out the way! get out the way b****, get out the way!!!!
32 years of driving 4 speeding tickets been in 2 minor accidents not of my causing been in 2 minor accidents which were my fault. Both happened at speeds under 5 MPH: 1. Hit my brother-in-laws purple van at night across the narrow street I was backing into 2. I moved 2 feet to pull out of a parking lot onto a busy street and hit a guy on a bicycle traveling against the traffic along a line of trees. I never saw him coming even though I had looked. I was just lucky that he was not hurt-- except for a bent pinky. My wife thinks I'm a bad driver. I tell her I'm NASCAR ready.
You've just jinxed yourself DEAN. I got two tickets in the 13 months I had my license. I didn't have another pullover or anything until the day I made fun of a co-worker who got two tickets within a week. I got a ticket that night and one four days later.
I've been driving for two years, 0 tickets and zero pullovers. The only traffic accident i've had in the two years happened two Saturdays ago when i was turning into a bank at night and a girl from my school looked down and ran into the back of me. Oh yeah...and one time I ran into my house...
7 yrs of leadfootitis 1 accident - rear ended someone - old vehicle with bad brakes and tires - mild damage. (failure to control speed ticket) 1 warning ticket 3 speeding tickets (just finished defensivedriving.com) The last two were on the Hardy tollroad (96 in a 65) and (80 in a 70). The other was in high school... Glad my mom works for the insurance company or I would be screwed.
I've been driving for three years. I have never been in an accident. However, someones bumped the car I was driving in twice in one week. I was at a stop sign sitting there, waiting for the light to turn green. Then, all of a sudden, some car bumps me from behind. Some hispanic guy. I got out of my car, and I looked at him, and his license plates. He said, It's okay, not broken and **** like that. And he made a right turn and sped off. That pissed me off. There wasn't that much damge, except the license tag's light was bumped out of place. A week later, some hispanic girl bumped my car. I don't think she knew how to use a break. I got out of my car, stared them down, pulled out a gun, okay, I didn't but I was upset. They moved out of my lane, went to the far left lane, and made a left turn. Whack ass people with no insurance. Piss me off. I bet the first guy didn't have insurance. The girl that bumped me was like "i'm sooo sorry, i'm really sorry." I would be sorry too if my foot was up her ass. I was parking backward onetime. I was backining it up, backing it up, backing it up like Charles. I hit those small little poles. I have a dent in the bumper of the truck. It's not too bad though. I have never been pulled over by a cop, I have never received a ticket. I show no fear or mercy to cops. On the road, it's funny how nobody ever trys to pass by a cop. They always drive next to it, or behind it. Other than that, I am clean.
Pulled over once for expired registration, on someone elses car. The cop let me off with a warnig. Other than that PERFECTO! I speed too. A lot. Way over the limit. But I have a good eye for lightbars.
26+ years driving. My first ticket was in my 69 SS/RS Camaro - my first day to have the car - pulling out of the school parking lot. Everyone wanted to see me "light-em-up". I looked left and right, then obliged them. The car got away from me as I wasn't used to that much power and did the better part of a 360. The ticket read, "Careless and imprudent driving by spinning tires, sliding sideways, causing operator of another motor vehicle to dodge accident. No licence. No registration." He was going to take me downtown - talked him out of that. Then he was going to write me 3 separate tickets (which would have pulled my license for 1 year) - talked him out of that. Felt lucky on that one. I've said it before, but don't ever buy your kids a car like that. My oldest might be lucky to inheirit my 94 Taruas in 6 more years. I've had 5 wrecks (2 my fault) and 3 tickets since then. It's been 11 years since I was last pullled over (no ticket). You mellow out with age.
