Most overrated young star in the league. He is a pretty good player but FAR from being a franchise player that Toronto can legitimately contend with down the road. I can understand that he is a well liked personality in Toronto, and may be the best thing Toronto can get alas a Vince Carter "showman" type of player, but does any Toronto fan really think they can contend with Bosh at the helm? I do not know, maybe I am wrong but as a fan the object of my team should always be to win it all, not just sell some tickets and have a marketable product or make some money. Of course, I am not a business owner so maybe I do not know what the hell I am talking about.
This may be the worst trade idea I've ever heard on here, and that's really saying something. 1. We do get younger and more athletic at the PF spot, but JO is neither young nor athletic (nor healthier than Yao). 3. The "PG problem" only exists now because we have a very good team EXCEPT for the PG position. It doesn't really help to trade for a better than average PG when you have to weaken your team to the point of not even being a playoff caliber team anymore. 2. You may be right, but I think it's too early to write off this season already. 4 & 5. It doesn't really help to have the big contract come off the books a year earlier if you're not going to try to spend that extra cap room until 2010 anyway.
Well, the whole point of the trade would be to rebuild but keep our good young role players (I they're underrated, the opposite of our 'stars'). I feel like we'll be in some big trouble salary and personnel wise if we don't win soon. If we don't go deep in the playoffs this year, what do we do with artest? Do we keep Tracy? What would we get for them? Even if we traded those two i doubt we get something back that would make us immediate serious contenders. Then we would have a slow 30 year old injury prone center (although very good) that has never won anything. I doubt that's very appealing to free agents, especially when you have to mold your game to fit his. Of course, it's not an even trade but it has to be lopsided when you're trading for the future or else why would the Raptors agree. I feel like there's nothing worse in sports than having a mediocre veteran team and there's a big possiblility we could be headed in that direction. Hell, you could make a case we're already there.
I've been in Toronto since July 2008 for work, and this is not a basketball city by any means. Hockey is obviously #1, probably followed by soccer (MLS and European), followed by basketball.
I'm getting pretty sick of all these journalists making up stuff about players, just like the Aldridge story about Yao and Tmac, this is just tabloid like BS to get ratings.
Who would be Houston's center? So, basically we'd have Scola, Landry, and Hayes on the bench. How much better would this make the defense?
Glad your not the Rox GM. Bosh ain't helping Toronto win even with O'Neal, Calderon and Bargnani. No thanks, I'd keep Yao.
Morey needs to take full advantage of trading to get Bosh knowing he wants to be traded and the Rockets could sure use him.
It might actually be true...not that I trust Sreamin A. all that much, though history has kinda repeated itself over and over again.....VinceActer / McLady / Crampy / Antonio metric Davis / Mighty Damon Weedamire http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56986/20090203/espn_reporter_tries_to_explain_bosh_story/ ESPN Reporter Tries To Explain Bosh Story Stephen A. Smith of ESPN created a big controversy on Sunday by indicating that Chris Bosh has told the Raptors that he will depart the club via free agency in 2010. The claims were denied by Bosh and general manager Bryan Colangelo. "In case anyone didn't comprehend what I reported first on ESPNews Sunday morning, then SportsCenter Monday night, let me be clear: My sources tell me Chris Bosh wants out of Toronto," writes Smith. "Preferably before 2010, when he's free to opt out of his contract. They've also informed me Bosh has quietly made the Raptors aware of this, that he wouldn't mind interest from Miami or Dallas, at all, and that he's hopeful his days as a Raptor will come to an end sooner than when the LeBron James' Sweepstakes hits the fan in 2010. "Essentially, these things qualify as one of the worse-kept secrets in the NBA. "Both Bosh and Raptors' President, Bryan Colangelo have emphatically denied Bosh has made the Raptors aware of anything. Feel free to believe them if you want to. And while you're at it, feel free to to conveniently forget that Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter all echoed similar sentiments before they skipped town, too."
the raptors have to down play this, otherwise Bosh's trade value is screwed, speaking of screwy trade value, what about a Amare for Bosh trade and also a JO for Marion trade, then Colangelo can rebuild the run and gun team with Calderon in for Nash and Bargianni playing the Diaw type role
