Rafer Alston at number 8 HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Yea, but we did trade for Scola, correct? Landry and Rafer too. So, to reiterate what the OP said, Morey and CD have an eye for talent (whether it be through the draft, or trades).
Our Bench and team of 2nd rounders could be fairly competitive as starters. C - Dikembe Mutmbo PF - Luis Scola SF - Carl Landry SG - Von Wafer PG - Rafer Alston In fact, the way things go sometimes, that might be possible starting lineup in the next game or so.
Full credit to Morey and the Rockets. Not sure how exactly Morey crunches the numbers but he seems to get it right more often than not and that includes selecting the right 2nd rounders.
Western Conference only. Also Millsap and Ellis aren't on the list after being mentioned in the intro.
Im not saying they don't have an eye for talent or that there not good picks. It's easy to know what your going to get once the guys are already in the league proving what they can do. With the exception to Scola who had not played in the league but has an extensive international career. Kind of diminishes the "eye for talent". Drafting a guy from college and getting him to stick is much harder to do. Making trades is just good GM work.
