When my team, the rockets are not doing well, I also hope others have a bad lucky, that is just a human nature. Kobe helps us a little bit in this regard, so I can vote him for MVP if I could. As this Andrew guy, I heard he is jerk, I do not want anyone to get injured, but I do not feel any bad for him either.
Rockets couldn't take advantage of Philadelphia and Indiana let alone the lakers. The Lakers are still the favorite although San Antonio looks ready to contend.
They are still the favorites in the West. Gasol has become a better player and fits in perfectly with that squad. Ariza is back and contributing nicely and chemistry on that team is as good as any. But now there is a chance....
I always feel the way the Lakers play is injury-prone: Tall guys play like a guard. Look at their length, almost all are PF in length, but running and driving like point guards. They are lucky enough to have only Bynum down. Let's wait and see. Whenever I want to complain the slowness of Scola, I would take comfort thinking that's the reason he is so endurable so far.
Why does everyone keep talking about the spurs. ESPN crew were talking abou the spurs. We destroyed them by double digits this year and gave them a game in San Antonio. We match up against them probably better than anyone and I really think they don't want any part of us this season.
Yao owned gasol last time we played them without ron and tracy. Matter of fact Yao owned gasol and Bynum both at the same time.
The Spurs' Big 3 have been known to be clutch and poised in the Playoffs while our Big 3 tend to fold up when we need them to make big plays.
I wasn't saying Gasol (or Bynum) is better than Yao. I never even mentioned head to head match ups between Yao and Laker players. My point was that the Lakers are still very talented and tall even without Bynum. Basically, they have last year's team except Gasol has had a whole season with them, Farmar is a year older (better) and Ariza is back and contributing.
It will be different this season. I really don't think they want to play us in any round and it's about time that we start winning these rounds anyway. This season with the addition of ron I think we have too much toughness for them Let's see how they fair on the road from playing all those home games early on.
The way we are playing right now, we are likely going to lose Spurs in the playoff. We have not have a good chemistry yet, Spurs already have a good chemistry, and are going to be better, plus that they have the great coach in the today NBA.
If the Rockets can't pull it together and play like a team, it won't matter if the Lakers have Bynum or not - we won't even get far enough to play them. ...personally I think Bynum was overrated anyway. Outside of getting hot a few weeks over a 4 yr career, he hasn't really done a lot in meaningful games. He put up 42 on DeAndre Jordan and the Clippers who were without Camby, Kaman, Randolph, and Baron Davis, and another reserve and he allowed Jordan to put up 20 & 10 in the process which is completely ridiculous for a so called starting center to allow a bench warmer to do that to him. The next night Bynum put up 20+ against another injured team with little big depth in the Wizards....and these two games are part of the "corner" they are talking about Bynum turning in the last 5 games. I know the kid is only 22, but he has been injured more than he has played and he has been in the league for 4 years now. Seems like he should be showing more consistency and commitment to both sides of the floor at this point in his career. The road to promise normally doesn't go through injury prone kids with commitment issues. I'm just calling it as I see it....obviously he has all the tools to be a dominant center but I just don't see the skills developing. Being able to dunk the ball when your surrounded by several All-Star players who demand double and triple teams isn't necessarily anything impressive on it's own.
I feel terrible for Bynum, reminds me a lot of how Yao's seasons would end the past three years. Anyways it is a chance for the Rockets to move up a bit. IMO we are still top 4 in the West...we CAN get it done and with everyone back tomorrow Chicago, its time to show what we can do. I wouldn't write off LA though, they did great last season without Bynum.
how about winning a first round series huh? Lakers are probably goint to make it to the WCF so lets not get over ourselves, our team in the most injury prone "what if" team.
Charlie Rosen giving the rockets some props now that Bynum is hurt http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/9166410/Lakers'-road-to-title-much-tougher-without-Bynum
I don't think it will affect the Lakers too much, they did it with out him last year, im sure they can do it again this year... Hopefully Rockets start taking advantage of the easier schedule and other teams injuries. Chilcutt
