Are you kidding?!?! That movie was laugh out loud funny from the beggining, got a little slow in the middle, and was hilarious at the end. "15 dollars little man, put that sh*t in my hand"
I'm with DrewP in this one. That was the most unfunny, boring, predictable, lamest excuse for a movie I've ever seen.
I liked it, as well, but I've got a man crush on Kevin Smith, so I'm probably not an objective viewer. Plus, I saw the movie there in Austin at the Paramount with Kevin Smith in attendance. It's hard to not think that's cool (at least for me anyway). It was almost as good a day as that time I skipped church ona really cold morning and won a radio contest and whizzed with the door open and so on.
It was an awesome movie. I bought the DVD (increasing my DVD collection to three movies plus Buffy Season 1). I thought it was better than Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Clerks, and even with Mallrats (most people rate/order KS's movies differently than I do, but they are wrong. The only thing KS would have done better was more screen time for Jason Lee, but it was after all a movie about Jay and Bob. On top of all of the things that made the other KS films great, this one had Eliza Dushku in it.
Nothing will ever beat Mallrats. That will always be the best one in my mind, but then again I didnt like Dogma.
When I first saw it, I thought it was OK. But after mutliple viewings, I thought it got more funny as hell. This isnt the best Kevin Smith flick but its up there. Here is my order: Clerks (Classic, nothing cant beat this movie) Mallrats Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Chasing Amy Dogma I really wouldnt rank Chasing Amy and Dogma with the other three because they werent really in the same genre as the other 3.
While I think Jay is one of the great characters in modern narrative, : D I think "Jay and Silent Bob" was pretty weak. It seems like the entire movie was made just so Kevin Smith could whine about internet geeks being mean to him. The extras on the dvd are better than the movie, in my opinion.
"What are you waiting for dude, she fell for the set up, now give it too her" Nothing in all movies was ever as funny as the whole Trouser Snake bit.
I have heard Mall Rats is good, but the funny thing is i have never heard of Jay and Silent Bob until Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back came out, i should go rent Mall Rats, BTW i saw the movie at my friends on DVD but we didnt watch the extra footage wish i could of. Today i got Joe Dirt on DVD, my collection is now at 1 lol. Joe Dirt rules!!!!
If you need to startup your DVD collection, getting every Kevin Smith movie would be a good start. Every DVD he has released has been almost perfect. The commentaries are hilarious and half the time Jason Mewes (Jay) is stoned. Mallrats, Dogma, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back had more than a hour of deleted scenes that would have been great if it was kept in the movie. Mallrats and Dogma have commentary cameras, you can see the crew in doing commentary in one picture while you are watchin the movie. The best part is that Miramax slashed the prices of Clerks, Chasing Amy, and the Clerks: Animated Series DVDs to around $15. Mallrats is still around $25 because it was released by Universal Studios.
Thought I was gonna hate it - it was very funny though. "You know you want the c*ck" I like the part with Tracy Morgan - mar1juana Union Workers Cards.
I thought it had some pretty funny moments. A lot of it was just the way Jay said things. I'd take Mallrats over this one though. Jason Lee is just awesome.
