I am surprised that no one knows Yao can opt out in 2010.

Landry and Artest for Bosh makes a lot of sense.

The Rockets have a TON of tradeable assets a big deal ala Francis/Mobley for Tmac would not surprise me.

    toronto has a problem though
    and thats keeping players
so artest to them doesnt work like it would with other teams being expiring

i mentioned battier being he has 3 years left
he is hella loyal so they wouldnt need too much talking to resign him
and its a good switch from kapono just a lot more salary needed

The money Yao brings in to les on his personal business side has nothing to do with the salary cap. That's based on total league revenue. Everyone has the same cap and floor. Every team can spend over the luxury tax if they choose.

I'm not saying it would happen, but if I could get a jump on getting bosh and get a player and a 1st rd pick, then why not? Rebuild with younger, more athletic multi positional guys as opposed to a guy that can only play 1 way. By the way, Bosh always kills Howard too. Amare as a f/a along with salmons and outlaw, that would be a very good versitile, athletic squad. Shaq would be retired, yao in the east, duncan still on the way down. The revamped frontcourt would be awesome.

Think of it like this. If you have a player bringing in more money then the average, you have more money to spend and would be more willing to spend OVER the cap.

Not only that but having Yao doesnt just bring money to the owner. It has the chances of bringing money to his teammates which brings in more players.

Yao is the lure, Les just needs to reel in the right fish. By the way I would love to have Bosh on this team. He doesnt exactly have the 3 point range to clear up the lane for easy 1vs1 (easy dominate for yao) but his skills are just absurb. 2nd favorite player for a reason. I would love to have my favorite and 2nd favorite player on same team, lovely! A reason I also wouldnt have minded Villa coming over and now look at him high scoring right now but a lot of you guys are boo this boo that. Think about stats but not about what can happen thats not written.

No disrespect to Yao but any GM in the league who would trades Bosh for him should be fired.

While it would be great to land someone like Bosh, I'm thinking we should look for young players on the verge of breaking out. Players like our own Von Wafer or Devin Harris before he broke out or Chris Duhon or Mo Williams. There are a lot of young players playing a backup role because the starter has more experience & is just a little bit better. But, when the player breaks out, it's usually too late to make a move on him. There are several teams that have a lot of talent on the bench that can't get in the game to show their skills & improve their games.

Players like Ariza (G/F), Josh Boone (C), Brandon Bass (F), Hakim Warrick (F), Marreese Speights (F/C), Nick Young (G), & Johan Petro (C) just to name a few. I believe that when/if we trade Artest & McGrady, we should look for the young guys that are ready to breakout to put around Yao. While Yao may have several more productive years left in him, we can't afford to wait around for draft picks to develop.

We've got a very talented group of young players on this team right now. Players like Yao, Landry, Brooks, Wafer, Scola, & Dorsey, not to mention the young players overseas. If we could add some additional talent & draft picks by trading Artest & McGrady, I believe the team would be better for the long haul.

Personally, I don't think this team as it stands now can take it all the way to the Championship. I'm sorry I feel this way, but it's how I feel about it. While I love what Battier brings to the game, I can't help but wonder what the young legs of Rudy Gay would mean to this team right now.

Perhaps it's time to quit trying to collect all the superstars one can get their hands on & start building a talented team around just one superstar. It worked out pretty good for us with Dream & I see no reason why we can't do it again with Yao as the centerpiece.

If that doesn't put the Lakers over the salary cap, that would make the Lakers instant NBA champions if everybody were healthy. Not sure how anybody could stop Kobe, Gasol, Yao, and Odom.

LOL, the Lakers are good enough with Bynum already.
