No schooled boy, do you know how many games they have lost since jl yi came down with hurt? I believe you're a stupid Chinese who just likes to disparage these Chinese players. You guys have no sense of shame.
I learned just as much watching Battier be guarded by Andre Miller and NEVER posting up as all the stats junk on the internet.
lol You're right because Yi would be crucial in games against Celtics X 2, Trailblazers, Hornets, Spurs, etc.
I think that Adelman wanted Battier to stay behind the three-point line the whole game. The defense was swarming Yao before he even got the ball.
Smart boy though never schooled You have to omit the games they lose to the Thunder and the Raptors. You also have to omit the Hawks b/c they had beaten the Hawks at 3-0 with Yi on the court, and without Yi, they lost to the Hawks tonight. Yes, all these games are coincidence. Chinese people just can't play good basletball. Right? You are so proud as a Chinese.
Raptors are better than the Nets. Yi's stats against the hawks 2-6 6 rbs 4pts Harris 33pts Carter 29pts 1-4 4 rbs 3pts 26pts carter 30 pts harris lopez 25pts 4-13 9rbs 8pts won by 2 pts I don't see Yi as a big factor for those victories. The only game they should of won is against the Thunder. I want Yi to do good and I've been following him since his Bucks days but I'm not a blind Chinese fan. Yao is good Yi is not. Can he become good? Maybe but not right now. Soooo simple. Now back to Battier topic please.
if Von Wafer can play well with Yao because he can shoot and slash, just imagine what Rudy Gay could do.
Yao is great. He's the best player in the team and the best center(disputable with D-Howard) in the league now. Yi is good. He's the 4th scorer and second rebounder in the team now. You're just a blind Chinese fan if you deny these facts. There're only three Chinese player playing in the league now. They're working hard and two of them played decent basketball. As a Chinse you have to respect them other than always bashing them. Just stop abusing yourself. Understand?
Hollinger/ESPN has a PER for Battier of 9.74, which is a very poor number: http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/play...spn.go.com/nba/players/hollinger?playerId=976
Are u playing or serious. If they're swarming that means someone is open. The general Basketball rule is that you follow your defender. Meaning if ur man leaves to double yao,you walk right behind him to the rim. That's 101.
This doesn't surprise me at all. Anybody who is rational can see that Battier has played like garbage the entire season, but his supporters will always scour the internet looking for some obscure stat to claim that Shane is doing well. Can Battier land you a lottery pick like the one we traded to get him?
Your complaint should be addressed to Adelman not Shane. Adelman has Shane camped at the 3-point line a lot, especially in the fourth quarter.
PER relies on usage rate, or what a player does when he actually has the ball. Battier's shot is off so far so he's been shooting at an inefficient clip, resulting in the low PER. Since a lot of the stuff Battier does in a game isn't recorded using PER to assess his performance is not the way to go. Adjusted +/- seems the best way to go. The OP's way of looking at the net numbers is wrong though +/- rely on not only your performance, but also your sub and your opponents. In a season I suppose the opponent's +/- kinda' averages out, but then again your backup will always be the same so if you have a crappy backup your numbers will be inflated and viceversa.
I thought +/- stat is more geared toward how good or back BACKUPS are than starters, and is more a team stat than individual. But starters tend to play a lot of minutes and the backup only limited minutes. Do bench players at 15 minutes a game mess up the game THAT badly? So its still for the most part a decent indicator of individual+team play, but all +/- does is initiate this kind of discussion to talk about all the other things. There's just too many variables factoring in. Interestingly enough, McGrady's defensive rating is TWICE as good as Battier's. Honestly dont know the formula for this stat though http://basketballvalue.com/teamplay...=summary&sortnumber=85&sortorder=ASC&team=HOU Artest is 3 times as good as Battiers'. But we all know McGrady is not a good defender, and we tend to think Artest is. Can we conclude that McGrady is helped out by Artest's defensive presence?
So , Adelman pulls shane to the side as says "Shane, no matter what, stand in the corner. If ur man leaves u to check the size of yao's ding dong, I want u to just wait for a 3." That's how crazy your comment sound.
In the fourth quarter Adelman wants to go to an inside outside game, not an inside midrange game. If Shane’s man leaves him to double Yao, Yao would then pass to Shane for a 3 pointer.
mbiker - Just becuz adelman wants to feed yao in the blks doesn't mean u lose ur instincts a a player. That's called bbiq. That's why the rox haven't gotten out the 1st rd. If shanes man turn his head to double yao, if shane makes a hard, useful cut, he might get a layup. If he cuts hard, his man stops doubling to pick him up, that one on one for yao. If his man acts like he's going to run with him on the cut, then peels off to double yao, shane can peel back to the ft line for a jimmy. That's called reading the defense.
