God damn Dwight is such a p.i.m.p. Level headed, hard worker, turning into a great leader and just a joy to watch. Last years performance will be hard to top though.
I live in Orlando...i love watching Dwight play. I love in the commercial when he goes the wings, i feel like a victoria secret model hahhaha
that superman dunk is the most overrated dunk of all time.. AGAIN its not even a dunk.. LAME.. hopefully he does something better this year..
That last dunk wasn't even a dunk Watching bigger players dunk isn't as appealing as watching swingmen dunk the ball with a far more artistic feel for the dunks.
You guys suck. The superman dunk was awesome. The fact that he threw the ball downward through the hoop without even having to touch the rim just made it that much more impressive. Put down the haterade.
Amen. That was a hell of a "dunk". What made it more spectacular was that it had to be more perfect than a regular dunk since he launched it from about 3 feet away. If he didn't aim it right, it wouldn't have gone in. When I first saw it, I had a "what's the big deal?" reaction, too, though. Then you realize the guy flung the ball down on the rim from 2-3 feet away, and it's like "crap!"
But do you think that was his intention? I assume, ideally, he wanted to actually get all the way to the rim and dunk. It ended up working out for him, but I'm not sure that's really what he wanted to do.
That probably wasn't his original intention but that's what makes it so much cooler. He literally threw the ball down from away and above. It could have been an EPIC FAIL if the ball hit the front of the rim or any part of the rim for that matter considering how hard he threw it. Coolest dunk since VC/J-rich stuff.
that's what makes it so much lamer to me and i don't get why people are so impressed. the original tv angle is what made it seem so cool. it was from behind and it made it look like he flew for a long way and slammed it in. it just looked so powerful and athletic. then you see the side angle and realize he took off waaayyy too far away and jumped way too straight up and had to throw the ball in from 5 feet away. this isn't like how carmelo throws a dunk through without grabbing the rim. this is coming up 5 feet short. i'm sorry, but in a dunk contest, not coming even close to dunking it takes away from the "dunk." why don't we just have guys take off from way too far out and make really acrobatic layups? those would be super hard as well but it wouldn't be a dunk. and it's not like he meant to do it and gets credit for practicing really great aim on the throw. he came up short and did the natural thing and just tried to throw it in. it happened to go in. it's like people are impressed that his arm was above the rim, as if that doesn't happen on every dunk by everybody. i for one liked the year before when he stuck the sticker way the hell up on the backboard and still finished off the dunk. and i can't remember his other dunks last year but i remember thinking one or two were better than the superman dunk. people just like it because he put on a cape. gerald green blowing out the candle in the cupcake on the rim and the between the legs dunk with no shoes (with douchebag darryl dawkins knocking his shoes off the table like he wasn't impressed) were probably also better than the superman dunk (was the candle last year or the year before?).
I'm not sure what his intention was, but think about it this way - if his intention was to make it to the rim, what the heck was the dunk supposed to be? A lame one-handed dunk with a cape on? lol. I say this because his dunks of note have all been spectacular and fairly unique. Why would he save a mediocre one-handed dunk with a cape on as his last one? I don't know, but the result was pretty good.
Those two dunks were really underrated even with the reaction they got for them. The cupcake dunk was sick. As for the Dawkins' reaction, I thought it was appropriate because Green turned into an ass after the shoeless dunk. He autographed the shoes and put them in front of Dawkins. That's disrespect to a dunk legend! At best it was tacky to do something like that.
